Position Overview

The Illinois State Police is accepting applications to fill an Information Systems Analyst II position in our Application Development Section. We are seeking a highly motivated individual with great organizational skills to work in this high level, fast paced section.

Job Responsibilities

50% 1. Under direction of Illinois State Police (ISP) Information Security Officer (ISO) performs functions as an Information Technology (IT) security auditor.
  • Assigns, manages and finalizes Criminal Justice Information Services (CJIS) Security Policy based audits for Illinois Law Enforcement agencies.
  • Evaluates compliance with the CJIS Security Policy.
  • Provides clarifications of the CJIS Security Policy requirements.
  • Upon conclusion of audits, works with agencies on resolving the audit findings.
15% 2. Assists ISP ISO in managing ISP and local agency responses to the Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI) ITS audits by gathering pertinent (technical) information, researching issues, and preparing documentation appropriate for communication.
10% 3. Assists ISP ISO in review of implementations of IT systems processing confidential Criminal Justice (CJ) data.
  • In this capacity, keeps abreast of technological advancements and processes; assesses documentation provided for security gaps; provides instruction consistent with IT best practices.
10% 4. Performs IT tasks such as programming and database queries related to maintenance and enhancements of desktop applications.
10% 5. Assists in resolving ISP Help Desk tickets related to nexTEST, CJIS Audit, CJIS Online, CJIS and others when necessary.
5% 6. Performs other duties as required or assigned which are reasonably within the scope of duties enumerated above.

Minimum Qualifications

1. Knowledge, skill, and mental development equivalent to completion of four (4) years of college, with coursework in computer science or directly related fields.
2. Three (3) years professional experience in a related Information Technology (IT) field.

Preferred Qualifications

1. One (1) year experience using knowledge of IT concepts necessary to understand the technical requirements of the CJIS Security Policy, such as IT security, encryption, application development, Cloud computing and storage, wireless and mobile data protection.
2. One (1) year experience in application development preferably in .Net framework, SQL, and database management tools.


Conditions of Employment

1. Successfully pass an Illinois State Police background investigation.
2. Successfully pass an Illinois State Police drug screening.
3. Subject to random drug testing.
