Salary

£25,915 - £27,116 + Industry leading pension + Benefits

Natural England is statutorily required by the Public Records Act to have in place a systematic approach to managing its records, and for identifying and transferring historical public records to The National Archives (TNA) for permanent preservation in line with the 20 Year Rule.

You will make risk-based retention and disposal decisions on information to better manage it, equally recognising historical information and its value.

Responsibilities

• Actively contribute to the delivery of the annual appraisal programme
• Conducting detailed research, interrogation of file lists and some physical file examination
• Applying information appraisal expertise and techniques on specific project work such as public inquiries, inherited and specialist records
• Preparing and monitoring applications to retain records beyond 20 years (Retention Instruments)
• Redacting and declassifying sensitive information
• Cataloguing information for transfer to The National Archives
• Keeping abreast of developments by attending events and network meetings and proactively building upon professional development of skills and knowledge

Skills and Experience

• The ability to make sound professional decisions based on research and the understanding of information-related legislation
• Analytical skills demonstrating an eye for detail
• Experience of records management systems
• Use of Microsoft O365 products, in particular SharePoint Online
