JOB DESCRIPTION
POSITION: Infant Toddler / Early Learning Coach
REPORTS TO: Infant Toddler Program Lead
Salary Range: $56,971.00-$63,913.56
FLSA Status: Non- Exempt
AGENCY SUMMARY:
Child Care Resources (CCR) has been at the forefront of the early learning landscape for over 30 years ensuring that all children have equitable access to safe, engaging, and positive early learning experiences that promote school readiness and lifetime success. With a staff of over 140 and a budget of $27.2 million (99% publicly funded), CCR provides a broad array of services for families and child care providers so that they in turn can support the development and well-being of our children.

  • *OPPORTUNITY:

The Infant Toddler/ Early Learning Coach provides coaching services to providers serving children birth to three as well as coaching Early Learning professionals of licensed early learning facilities in both King and Pierce County serving children ages 0-12 with utilizing the statewide Quality Recognition and Improvement System (Early Achievers). The goal of coaching services is to decrease expulsions, increase referrals to early intervention services and increase providers capacity. Coaches work in partnership with childcare center teachers, administrators and/or family childcare providers/owners to develop quality improvement goals, model and support best practices in early childhood education and management practices, and support professional development goals. The Coach role may also entail providing on-site and distance practice-based and transformational coaching to center and home-based licensed childcare programs. As a result, the role of the Infant Toddler/ Early Learning Coach is dynamic and includes: providing customized coaching to support teachers increase the quality of early learning experiences for infants and toddlers; implementation of the video coaching model, Filming Interactions to Nurture Development (FIND) to promote nurturing and responsive caregiving; and training and consultation to support early learning facilities in implementation of the Ages and Stages Questionnaire (ASQ) to be used as a universal developmental screening tool.

  • *RESPONSIBILITIES:
  • Manage a caseload of early learning professionals, purposefully coaching to build and strengthen skills in early learning best practices.
  • Assist licensed center and family childcare providers to enter into, and progress through, the WA State Early Achievers Quality Recognition Improvement System.
  • Work with directors, teachers and/or family childcare providers to develop quality improvement plan; provide ongoing assistance and support to implement the program improvement
  • Provide antiracist, culturally relevant and inclusive assistance to early learning providers throughout King and Pierce
  • Provide video coaching to early learning professionals using Filming Interactions to Nurture Development (FIND).
  • Support early learning facilities in implementing the Ages and Stages Questionnaire (ASQ) as a universal developmental screening
  • Deliver both Stars trainings and group learning event for early learning professionals as a MERIT-approved
  • Model professionalism and best practices at all
  • Submit complete and accurate documentation in a regular and timely
  • Participate in regular program and agency meetings
  • Participate in training, reflective practice and other professional development activities required by CCR.
  • Utilize formal and informal data in partnership with provider to establish and monitor quality improvement goals.
  • Provide assistance to childcare providers to build and strengthen skills in early learning best practices, use of technology, navigating the state professional development system (MERIT), carrying out quality related self-assessments, and meeting quality improvement goals.

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES:
Minimum requirements include a Bachelor of Arts degree in Early Childhood Education or a related field.

  • Three to five years’ experience as an early learning provider serving children birth – 12yrs.

Desired Qualifications

  • Candidates who are bilingual in English and Somali or Spanish
  • Experience working with family childcare
  • Knowledge of childcare licensing and the regulatory environment surrounding Family and Center- based childcare.
  • Ability to facilitate reflective practice sessions with early learning professionals
  • Experience utilizing and supporting the use of research-based quality assessments to guide the development of a quality improvement plan
  • Course work and/or formal training in culturally appropriate anti-bias practice and theory, along with a commitment towards continued professional development in this

Additional Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities Qualifications

  • Expertise in effective coaching, mentoring and/or other consultative practices that support adult learners.
  • Ability to provide leadership, innovation, motivation, and constructive feedback to Early Learning professionals.
  • Demonstrated commitment to diversity, cultural relevancy, and
  • Knowledge of ECE best practices, curricula, and
  • Knowledge of the Washington State Core Competencies for Early Learning Professionals.
  • Knowledge of the Washington State Early Learning and Development Guidelines.
  • State-approved trainer or ability to become approved by MERIT within first 6 months of
  • Knowledge of referral systems to access developmental screening and early childhood or infant mental health
  • Must be able to lift 10-15 pounds without assistance
  • Ability to work independently and self-motivate; majority of time is offsite
  • Understanding and experience with Quality Improvement and Adult Learning
  • Excellent written and verbal communication
  • Excellent listening skills with the ability to give and receive critical

COMPENSATION:

  • Salary Range: $56,971.00-$63,913.56
  • FLSA Status: Non- Exempt
  • This is Fulltime salaried position requiring work during CCR Business hours, Monday through Friday from 8:30 am-5pm and requiring a willingness to work some evenings and weekends.
