Designs and develops production layouts to improve flow. Performs functions necessary for the development of changes to materials and methods that will improve quality and reduce cost of present and future products and Waste reduction. Review production schedules and current manufacturing processes within product families to find potential improvements. Coordinates with reliability and design engineers, purchasing, manufacturing, welding, and vendors to effect changes. Manages new product releases and ECN implementation between engineering and manufacturing functions. Provides technical direction, expertise, assistance, advice, and guidance to plant personnel. Leads Future State practices.

Essential Functions

  • Design and implement LEAN practices (VSM, Continuous flow, Workplace Organization, 5S, Cycle time, Time studies, designs ergonomic work stations, Identify Waste and Develops Waste Identification programs. Lead Kaizen events.
  • Develop and implement work instructions and train team members.
  • Design, redesign, and enhance work areas and layouts to be within ergonomic standards, reducing repetitive motions and inefficient methods, following MOST standards.
  • Develops and documents assembly and test procedures for manufacturing components and assembly.
  • Maintains and updates all Process Routers of components and assembly.
  • Review BOMs.
  • Coordinates product transfer and ECN’s while ensuring consistent and accurate communication flow.
  • Responsible for providing proper tools, design fixtures, making adjustments to fixtures for proper operation and performs any variety of operations to maintain the flow of work and insures the quality of products and services provided.
  • Develop and maintain data collected for Lessons Learned.
  • Develops and presents make versus buy proposals, performs value analysis / value engineering studies.
  • Evaluates capital equipment needs and costs and provides justification for capital purchases.
  • Working with the Welding function, maintains corporate welding procedures (WPS)and welder performance qualification records (WPQRs).
  • Maintain (PQRs, and WPS for customer review and approval.
  • Participate with the welding procedure qualification requirements with the metallurgical and testing laboratories.
  • Work with production and welding personnel relating to specification restrictions, material processes, pre- and post-heating requirements which involve use of complex alloys, unusual fabrication methods, welding of critical joints, and complex post-heating requirements.
  • Ability to interpret engineering drawings, schematics, and other sources for specifications.
  • Responsible for monitoring safe work practices and processes.

KNOWLEDGE, EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE

  • Bachelor of Science degree in Industrial Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Industrial Technology.
  • Welding Engineering Technology is desirable.
  • 5 Years of experience in a manufacturing environment.
  • Working knowledge of Solid Works, Solid Edge or Auto CAD.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft office software.
  • Experience in establishing lean Initiatives, methods improvement, time standards, value analysis, quality improvement and cost reduction. Lean Manufacturing Training.

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: $70,000.00 - $110,000.00 per year
