Maintenance Mechanic (with Electrical experience preferred)

We are seeking an experienced, multi-craft maintenance technician with 5+ years of experience in industrial equipment maintenance; or vocation training plus 3 years of work experience; and Oregon LME (Limited Maintenance Electrical License) is preferred. SSI will pay for LME training and certification if applicant does not have an LME.

Essential Functions:

· Installs, troubleshoots, repairs, and modifies mechanical, electrical, and electro-mechanical equipment and facility systems.

· Follows drawings, and general instruction to plan and layout details.

· Troubleshoots complex equipment issues with or without reference manuals available to minimize equipment downtime and without repeat equipment failures.

· Provides proactive maintenance support to area leads to support daily production requirements and minimize impact to production due to equipment related issues.

· Provides input and assistance in the development of standard work processes.

· Process necessary administrative items such as work orders, purchase orders, and troubleshooting documentation notes.

· Set-up and operate machine tool equipment to include basic operation of most production equipment such as drill press, saws and various hand tools and measuring equipment.

· Has Electrical knowledge and skill in troubleshooting motors and controls.

· Experience reading mechanical/electrical blueprints and shop sketches (PLC preferred).

· Experience in carpentry, fabrication, welding, pipe fitting.

· Knowledge of hydraulic, pneumatic, and mechanical systems.

· Work with other members of the maintenance team to ensure team goals and objectives are met.

· Other duties as assigned.

Qualifications and Job Requirements:

· Associate degree in technical field with a minimum of 3 years’ experience or 5+ years industrial equipment maintenance with supporting machining experience

· Oregon LME License or ability to obtain within 6 months of starting position.

· Ability to read electrical, pneumatic, and hydraulic schematics.

· In-depth knowledge and prior use of Lock-Out Tag-Out procedures.

· Effectively problem solve, prioritize, and follow through on multiple assignments and projects.

· Ability to obtain in-house certification for a forklift, scissor lift, and overhead cranes and lifts.

· Advanced knowledge of preventive and predictive maintenance practices to drive continuous improvement.

· Ability to diagnose mechanical issues such as ball screws, drives and drive motors, clutches, and spindle bearings.

· Work independently and possess a high level of motivation and initiative.

· Interpersonal Skills/Interactions: Excellent communication skills, work well as a team player, motivated and very dependable. Must be able to read and write English.

Physical Requirements and Work Environment:

· While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to stand.

· Occasionally required to climb or balance; stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl.

· Must be able to lift up to 50 pounds and up to 15 pounds above shoulder height on a frequent basis.

· Eye and Hearing protection devices are required, as defined by safety guidelines.

· While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly exposed to moving mechanical parts. The employee is occasionally exposed to fumes or airborne particles. The noise level in the work environment is usually loud.
