The Bureau of Human Resources, Region 2 is currently recruiting to fill a Human Resources Specialist - LTE vacancy located at the Department of Corrections central office at 3099 E. Washington Ave., Madison, WI (Dane County).

Note: Candidates must be a resident of the State of Wisconsin in order to be considered. This position will require infrequent travel throughout the state to DOC facilities/offices.

Position Summary


This position is part of a team dedicated to the recruitment and selection of Correctional Officers within the Wisconsin Department of Corrections. Responsibilities include general talent acquisition tasks, developing and implementing innovative and effective recruitment strategies, managing job announcements and associated applicant contact, certification, interviewing, and checking backgrounds and references. Duties also include post-selection activities such as determining personnel transactions, pay administration, and data entry. This position will also provide independent human resources consultation, interpretation, technical assistance, training, and customer service to department managers, supervisors, institution human resources directors, employees and the public.

Salary Information


The starting pay is between $25.00 and $30.00 per hour. The pay schedule/range is 81-04.

Job Details


Applicants must be legally entitled to work in the United States (i.e., a citizen or national of the U.S., a lawful permanent resident, an alien authorized to work in the U.S. without sponsorship) at the time of application. Region 2 will conduct criminal background checks on applicants prior to selection to determine whether the circumstances of any conviction may be related to the job being filled.

Qualifications


Minimally qualified applicants will have training or experience:
  • Utilizing a human resources information system (HRIS) such as PeopleSoft, Lawson, etc.
  • Performing routine staffing/recruiting duties (coordinating and/or conducting interviews, posting jobs, applicant liaison, etc.)
  • Interpreting and communicating policies, procedures, laws, and/or regulations
