Position Summary:

  • Reporting to the Executive Director of Human Resources, the HR Specialist is an integral member of the HR team at Howard County General Hospital
  • The Specialist works closely with the HR Business Partners on employee and labor relations matters, assists department leaders in resolving human resources related issues, and implements hospital engagement and retention initiatives
  • Human Resources data collection, analysis and distribution is a vital component of this role
  • Ensuring regulatory compliance and completion of HR transactions will be expected

Education:

  • Bachelor’s degree in business administration/human resources or a related discipline is preferred. Applicable work experience may be substituted for the educational requirement.

Work Experience:

  • Two to three years of human resource experience with human resources generalist experience preferred.
  • Experience in a fast paced, healthcare/customer-intense environment preferred.

Knowledge/Skills:

  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, written and verbal.
  • Microsoft office skills required, will an intermediate level of understanding of MS Excel. Ability to generate reports and analyze data from Human Resources Management Information Systems.

Preferred, but not required:

  • Knowledge and understanding of all aspects of human resources management, policies and procedures, and the ability to effectively interpret, apply and communicate such information appropriately.
  • Working knowledge of Federal and State regulations pertaining to Human Resources.
