We are looking to hire our first Human Resources professional to oversee the HR function for all three sites. This opportunity is expected to be 30 hours per week and hybrid, with choice of office locations (Fitchburg or Holden) for days in the office, and includes company-paid benefits.

As the Human Resource Specialist, you will oversee HR processes at all business locations (3 in central Mass.) and be responsible for administering Payroll and HR record-keeping, ensuring employees’ pay, benefits, LOA’s, etc. are processed in accordance with all regulations. You will manage employee onboarding and offboarding and provide staffing support for open positions. You’ll work with both management and employees to ensure a positive employee relations atmosphere and serve as the front line in hearing and resolving employees’ issues. This role will recommend and draft employee communications, including policies, procedures and individual correspondence and remain current on HR topics and best practices, ensuring compliance in all HR-related and DOT practices.

Duties/Responsibilities:

· Administer weekly payroll, working with Accounting and other internal groups to ensure that HR-related status changes are properly recorded

· Administer health and welfare plans, processing required documents through payroll and benefits broker to ensure accurate record-keeping and proper deductions. Reconcile benefits statements and serves as liaison between employees and Benefits broker and vendors

· Serve as front line for reporting of employee issues, working with management to resolve

· Create and maintain employee files and records; create reports on key HR metrics

· Manage onboarding of all new hires and offboarding of terminating employees

· Design, implement and administer the annual performance review process

· Assist in staffing for open positions by drafting job descriptions, reviewing and screening candidates, and conducting interviews

· Draft employee communications, policies & procedures, offer letters and other HR-related correspondence as requested

· Develop an integrated culture between 3 offices, recommending and planning employee events and social activities

· Administration of compliance training, including DOT, in addition to new-employee drug screening

Required Skills/Abilities:

· Excellent verbal and written communication skills. Ability to draft policies, procedures and employee communications

· Excellent interpersonal and customer service skills; able to work well at all levels of the organization and exercise discretion and confidentiality in handling sensitive matters

· Excellent organizational and time management skills with strong attention to detail

· A working understanding of current Human Resource procedures and best practices

Education and Experience:

· Bachelor's degree in Business, Human Resources or related field and/or equivalent

· 2 – 5 years’ experience in HR or related administrative role that includes experience performing HR-related activities, e.g., Benefits, Payroll, or Staffing. Exposure to safety or other compliance areas (e.g., Workers Compensation, DOT regs) and/or SHRM credential a plus

· Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite

Job Type: Part-time

Pay: $62,837.00 - $70,118.00 per year
