Your role as a Human Resources Generalist will be multifaceted with an opportunity to make an impact across the organization. As a local leader for our People Team, you will be responsible for leading all aspects of HR in our Brockton, MA facility, known as Spence & Co., a subsidiary to Acme Smoked Fish. You will work cross functionally and will support areas like Health & Safety and Employee Training and will be expected to spend about 20% of your time interacting with staff on the production floor, building relationships and working to provide a positive environment for all employees. Additionally, you will drive local recruiting, performance management and the enforcement of company policy in coordination with facility leadership.

What You Will Do at Spence & Co. (Acme):

  • Your main responsibility is to function as the site lead/contact for Human Resources at Spence & Co.
  • You will be tasked with reviewing, updating and/or developing policies and procedures for HR compliance and organizational support.
  • Consistently and appropriately advise managers and team members on HR programs, issues, employment legislation, and practices.
  • You will lead the hiring process including screening, interviews, reference verification, orientation, and on-boarding at the local level.
  • Adhere to, promote, and enforce company policies and procedures as well as communicate areas of non-compliance, and enforce disciplinary and corrective actions as required.
  • Partner and support the safety department and local managers to ensure employees have adequate training and certifications.
  • You will collaborate with benefits team to administer employee benefit plans and programs.
  • As needed, you will review company documents and various policies and procedures to identify deficiencies, improvements, and other amendments necessary to enhance and ensure compliance with legislative changes impacting the company.
  • You will maintain accurate employee data in HRIS and paper files.
  • You will monitor time and attendance module of HRIS for Spence and Co., ensure timely submission for weekly payroll processing.
  • It is expected that you will represent Acme in an ethical and professional manner with our employees, our customer and the communities where we operate.
  • You will appropriately address employee questions and concerns in confidence.
  • Other related duties as assigned.

Your Education & Experience:

  • Bachelor's Degree in Business Administration, Human Resources, or related field required.
  • HR Certification (PHR, SPHR, SHRM-CP) preferred.
  • Minimum of 3-5 years of progressive human resources experience required; manufacturing and/or industrial experience preferred.

  • Ability to act with integrity, professionalism, and confidentiality.
  • Proficient with Microsoft Office Suite or related software.
  • Experience with HRIS systems.
  • Completion of training programs as assigned and/or required including standard of work.
  • Bi-lingual a PLUS (Spanish/Portuguese).

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: $60,000.00 - $80,000.00 per year
