Performs advanced and responsible clerical work and some administrative and technical duties, exercising considerable initiative, independent judgment, and discretion. Work includes the independent performance of moderately complex clerical duties which require some independent judgment based on knowledge gained through experience. These employees may develop and refine working procedures for themselves and are required to exercise some initiative and independent judgment in carrying out their work to completion.

Duties and Responsibilities

  • Administrative record-keeping, data and asset management.
  • Compiles, prepares, or assists in the preparation of a variety of data.
  • Maintains a variety of files, records, and inventories.
  • Maintains relatively complex and classified file material.
  • Maintains a variety of complex records.
  • Maintains extensive files on employee records.
  • May answer the telephone and respond to questions from fellow staff members, citizens, and other third-party callers.
  • Performs data entry into spreadsheets and databases or departmental specific software programs.
  • Prepares outgoing mail and correspondence, including e-mail and faxes.
  • Performs other duties as required.

Typical Qualifications

High School Diploma or GED required and at least 2 years of experience.

OR

An equivalent combination of education and experience sufficient to successfully perform the essential duties of the job such as those listed above, unless otherwise subject to any other requirements set forth in law or regulation.

Licensing and Certifications:
None Required

Preferred Qualifications:


2 or more years of relevant experience.

Additional Information

Skill In:

  • Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint)
  • Organizing information with attention to detail
  • Communicating effectively orally and in writing
