Boulder County Housing and Human Services department is seeking to hire a Hourly Child Study Writer and Records Management Worker. A child study is a comprehensive historical document that includes the medical and social history of a child who will be adopted. The documents also includes significant life events of the child and their resultant impacts. This document is reviewed by the prospective adoptive family, and is expected to be of the standard of a full and complete history of the child.

The hourly employee will write the child study, based on specific instructions below from Colorado Department of Human Services. Information will be gathered from case records, medical records, school records, interviews and third -party reports. Examples of the type of information included are birth records, health of the pregnant mother, significant medical history, family history.

The Records management work will be related to gathering and preparing documents related to child studies, adoptions, and administrative reviews through CDHS.

This is a hourly, non-benefited position. This position will work 20-30 hours per week with a flexible schedule. This position will work primarily remote and out of 515 Coffman St., Suite 100, Longmont CO 80501 . Under Fair Labor Standards Act (FLSA) guidelines, this position is non-exempt (eligible for overtime).

Boulder County requires its employees to reside in the state of Colorado as of the first day of work.

Hiring Salary Range: $22.00 - $32.00 Hourly

Tentative Hiring Timeline:


  • Phone Screening: Week of March 13th
  • First Round Interviews: Week of March 13th
  • Second Round Interviews: Week of March 20th
  • Language Proficiency Test: Week of March 20th

Examples of Duties

Child Studies:

  • File mine Trails and HHSC to thoroughly document history
  • Write a comprehensive and accurate document
  • Follow the CDHS format
  • Communicate with the casework team to ensure accuracy
Records Management:
  • Pulls, redacts, reviews and or sends records requests to ensure deadline compliance for child study redactions.
  • Upload records for the Records Specialist team to Content Navigator.
  • Develops expertise in a multitude of state and county systems, including but not limited to Colorado Trails, Colorado Benefits Management System, Colorado Courts, IBM Content Navigator/File Net, and Adobe PDF
  • Assembling and preparing documents
  • Works closely with the Records Specialist team and Family and Children Services Division
  • Performs related work, as required
  • May be reassigned during emergency situations

EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE:
Boulder County is looking for well qualified candidates to fill our positions. Any combination of relevant education and experience is encouraged. In this position, we are looking for a minimum of a Bachelor's degree in Human Services or related field and 2 years Child Welfare experience.
