Hotel Group Sales Manager

Overview:

The Rochester Holiday Inn Downtown is in search of a highly motivated and talented individual to join the sales team. Under new ownership and management with Prestige Hospitality Group, we are building a leadership team to see the property through a full scale 2023 renovation in the hotel, restaurants, and conference center, and to raise the level of business. The new product is a perfect match for a revitalized Rochester downtown and just what group travel and event planners are looking for.

You must have a proven track record in hospitality sales and intricate knowledge of group travel markets and event catering. We are looking for a creative thinker; someone capable of driving independent sales focus while translating strategy for cross alignment within the team.

Primary Responsibilities and Duties:

  • Maximize revenue by prospecting new accounts, closing business and selling all facets of the hotel, conference & banquet space to previous, current, and potential clients.
  • Promptly handle (within the business day) inquiry calls and monitor the efficient flow of paperwork relative to confirming function details to the client.
  • Use professional sales techniques to negotiate the best possible terms and conditions that satisfy customer requirements.
  • Make outside sales calls to obtain business.
  • Utilize site inspections and on-site luncheons to book business.
  • Determine the guest's needs, space availability, and meeting details.
  • Maintain active liaison with competitors regionally through personal contacts, professional and industry associations.
  • Complete coordination of the Sales & catering group functions; accurate and timely preparation of detailed Sales Contracts, BEO’s and Group Resumes as necessary to ensure a common quality understanding of what the client is to receive in terms of products and services.
  • Review function contracts prior to distribution to client and hotel staff.
  • Follow up on the progress of groups booked, such as room night pick up, rooming lists, cut off dates, etc. to ensure maximum occupancy.
  • Attend department meetings, and interdepartmental meetings as needed.
  • Be familiar with the operating procedures of all other areas of the hotel, cooperating fully and in a friendly manner with those areas to ensure customer satisfaction.
  • Determine the requirements for and the follow up on special groups, VIPs, etc.

Qualifications:

  • Minimum 3 years' experience as a Hotel Sales Manager
  • Bachelor's degree preferred or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Must have at least 1-year computer experience in Microsoft Outlook, Word, and Excel
  • Proficient in use of hotel property management system.
  • Strong leadership experience with demonstrated ability to coach a team.
  • PC literacy is required. Ability to analyze hotel sales efforts and goal achievement. Ability to note deviations from the marketing plan, determine causes and to provide recommendations to the General Manager on needed action plans.
  • Strong written and verbal communications skills. Ability to understand and carry out industry specific written and oral direction. Positive, innovative approach to problem solving. Presents ideas in a clear, concise, understandable, and organized manner; negotiate, persuade, and modify opinion to reach the goals/objectives of the organization.
  • Strong understanding of industry and demonstrated knowledge in the areas of marketing, business development, revenue management, and outside and inside sales approach.
  • Ability to motivate and negotiate effectively with key associates, guests, and top management.
  • Ability to work in an organized, efficient manner with a high level of accuracy, attention to detail, and follow-through.
  • Ability to exercise judgment and discretion is critical to success. Must be professional at setting priorities and coping with competing demands.
  • Excellent time-management and general organization skills.
  • Prominent level of integrity and ethics.

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: $45,000.00 - $55,000.00 per year
