Job Description:

YSZ High School for Girls is seeking an inspired and inspiring History teacher. The ideal candidate will be a creative and dynamic educator who is passionate about teaching Global History and/or US History. Possible elective classes can include AP World History, AP US History and Government, AP Political Science, Holocaust Studies and/or Economics. Applicants should be eager to embrace spirited intellectual challenges in a rewarding academic environment, from political debates to historical reenactments. Familiarity with NY Regents curriculum is a plus.

As a startup school, we are looking to hire educators who value collaboration, and are excited to experiment, take chances, and challenge themselves to implement the most dynamic learning experience for each student.

The candidate should be comfortable teaching with technology and have ample experience in differentiating instruction.

Qualifications and Skills:

• Warm, enthusiastic educator committed to a growth mindset.
• Open to or trained in student-centered learning techniques.
• Strong verbal and written communication skills.
• Extensive educational background in History.
• BA in Education or History.
• MA in Education and/or History preferred.
• 1-3 years teaching experience preferred.

We welcome teachers with strong extracurricular experience. We anticipate many additional career opportunities in this area, including club leadership (ex: Debate team and Mock Trial club) and mentoring programs, as our school continues to grow.

Salary for a full time position ranges from $60,000-$100,000, commensurate with a candidate’s experience, education, and course load.
