Position Summary
This is a full-time (1.0 FTE) position starting at the beginning of the 2023/24 school year.
The Eugene 4J School District is seeking a CTE-licensed or CTE-endorsed Health Science teacher who will be responsible for development and implementation of a high school CTE Health Science Program of Study with an emphasis on community-centered, work-based learning. Individuals with professional experience in the healthcare field are strongly encouraged to apply for this position. The qualified applicant should be prepared to develop a CTE Program of Study aligned with National Health Science Standards, ODE CTE High Quality Program standards, and industry identified standards. Professional experience in the health care professions is a requirement for a this CTE teaching license. The district will support the licensure of a qualified individual if they do not have the appropriate endorsement or license.

Preferred Qualifications:
- A minimum of 3 years of work experience in the healthcare field
- Experience teaching health sciences at the secondary level
- Experience preparing instructional materials, maintaining equipment, and managing materials for instruction related to the healthcare field.
CTE Health Science Teachers should be prepared to:
- Facilitate, coordinate, and deliver a rigorous Health Science education curriculum with career-related instruction; assess and provide differentiation (including industry related hands-on laboratory activities) to assure student progress while maintaining a learning environment.
- Administer standardized testing programs, subject specific formative and summative assessments in accordance with directions provided for the purpose of evaluating students.
- Demonstrate an understanding of Perkins V Federal funding and requirements associated with teaching.
- Provide Dual Enrollment course options for students in partnership with Lane Community College or other.
- Provide assistance with students Personalized Learning Plans, graduation progress and or other high school participation related learning.
- Sponsor and participate in Career Technical Student Organizations in order to provide students with networking, scholarship, competition opportunities.
- Provide feedback to students about learning and professional development and adjust with a focus on improving student learning.
- Participate in all regional advisory committee meetings each year.
- Establish and maintain relationships with healthcare professionals to promote/ encourage opportunities for students for experiential learning through work-based learning.

- Instructs students directly and guides the learning process toward the achievement of curriculum goals; establishes clear objectives for all instructional units, projects and lessons to communicate these goals and objectives to all students.
- Implements individual plans (IEP/504/TAG/etc.)
- Diagnoses the instructional needs of all students and prescribes appropriate learning activities for each student.
- Works effectively and collaboratively with diverse student, staff and community populations.
- Works collaboratively with other school personnel (e.g., Title I, regular education, school psychologist specialists, classified staff) in meeting the diverse social and academic needs of all students
- Works with team members to accomplish mutually agreed upon goals.
- Is responsive to feedback from colleagues and administrators and is able to apply feedback to improve skills and services to all students.
- Assists the administration in implementing all policies and/or rules governing student conduct, develops reasonable rules of classroom behavior and procedure, and maintains order in the classroom and school in a fair and just manner.
- Establishes and maintains open lines of communication with all students and parents/guardians concerning both the academic and behavioral progress of all assigned students.
- Strives to improve professional competence through an ongoing program of reading, workshops, seminars, conferences, classes, and other professional development activities.
- Utilizes computer and software programs as related to job responsibilities.
- Trains and acts as lead worker for Instructional Assistants
- Designs instruction, monitors and provides feedback for Instructional Assistants and be available for problem solving relating to classroom instruction.
- Maintains accurate, complete, and confidential records as required by law, district policy and administrative regulations.
- Follows district and school policies, procedures, rules, regulations, and guidelines, and the provisions of the contract and exercised professional judgment when acting in the absence of a covering guideline or policy.
Required Knowledge, Skills and Abilities
- Experience differentiating practices for diverse populations.
- Ability to work effectively and collaboratively with diverse students, staff, and community populations.
Minimum Qualifications
- Valid Oregon teacher's license with the appropriate endorsements OR a CTE Endorsement
- ESOL endorsements preferred.
- Evidence of multi-cultural experience and cultural competency.
- Bilingual proficiency and/or multicultural experience strongly preferred.
