AAI is actively recruiting a Help Desk Specialist to support the Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) Region 8 Regional Office. The EPA is tasked with the responsibility of improving and preserving the quality of the environment, both national and global. This includes the protection of human health and the productivity of natural resources on which all human activity depends. The agency is tasked to implement and enforce Federal environmental laws, to implement U.S. policy, both foreign and domestic, which fosters the integration of economic development and environmental protection so that economic growth can be sustained over the long term, to take steps to reduce risk, to educate the public on environmental issues, conservation and prevention, and to participate in public and private decisions affecting energy, transportation, agriculture, industry, international trade and natural resources in order to ensure fully integrated consideration of environmental quality.

The U.S. EPA Region 8 mission is to improve and preserve the quality of the environment of the mountains and plains for present and future generations. EPA Region 8 covers the six states of Colorado, Utah, Wyoming, Montana, North Dakota and South Dakota.

This project requires AAI to provide support for end-user IT devices using industry best practices. The primary role and responsibility of the Help Desk Specialist is to provide a full complement of Information Technology services and support necessary to support and maintain the day-to-day computing environment for staff and implement and support compliance activities as needed under a variety of administration and environmental regulations.
Responsibilities

The Help Desk Specialist will be required to provide technical support to users in an efficient and accurate manner. In this role, the Help Desk Specialist will solve basic technical problems and provide support for all assigned areas and must have the following to qualify for this position:
  • A minimum of three (3) years of experience troubleshooting desktop computers and laptops;
  • A minimum of one (1) year of experience troubleshooting Tablets and other related mobile devices (e.g., smartphones);
  • A minimum of one year of Service Desk experience;
  • Ability to provide audiovisual support (e.g., set up projectors and laptops);
  • Ability to troubleshoot VoIP technology;
  • Ability to analyze and resolve general PC/Laptop issues;
  • Demonstrated analytical and problem-solving skills to assist end-users with computer-related problems;
  • Working as a team member to identify problems, analyze data, and formulate solutions through the team process;
  • Effective communication, both orally and in writing, with end-users of varying technical/support levels including management and other individuals from diverse disciplines;
  • Knowledge/experience applying current information technologies, including multimedia and microcomputer applications, and identifying their potential implications and opportunities;
  • Experience with work processes, work volume, and system characteristics found in Service Desk functions;
  • Experience with the technical aspects of hardware and software regarding maintenance, routine service, updates, security, and the requirements of the staff using the equipment;
  • Troubleshooting computer hardware, and operating system software, software components, peripherals, and Agency approved mobile devices;
  • Experience with technical aspects of the hardware and software of microcomputer systems and peripherals regarding installation, maintenance, routine service, updates, and security;
  • Experience with MS Windows operating systems, MS Office products, and other Commercial off the Shelf (COTS) applications;
Requirements
  • An EPA Clearance will be required after an offer letter is presented to the candidate.
