Position Summary:
Responsible for management of health information consistent with the medical, administrative, ethical and, legal requirements of Third Street Family Health Services. Prep, sort, scan, and index medical records as assigned. Access and disclose health information in accordance with state/federal regulations and agency procedure.

MAJOR AREAS OF RESPONSIBILITY:

  • Knowledgeable of our customer service mantra – AIDET throughout all interactions with patients. Routinely greet patients, visitors and employees and remains friendly through every contact and transaction.
  • Accurately prep, scan, index, and perform quality review and quality control of scanned images within the agency’s EMR.
  • Maintains high accuracy rate (95-100%) of scanned images with attention to detail and 24-hour turn around scan time.
  • Perform release of information duties using HIPAA privacy/security standards, state law, and agency procedures.
  • Understanding of patient’s rights under HIPAA privacy rule.
  • Basic understanding of documentation requirements for legal health record purposes.
  • Ability to navigate efficiently within an EMR system and other electronic systems maintained by agency relating to health information.
  • Administers HIPAA privacy/security rule training, with assistance from the Director of Support Services.
  • Advises of problems and concerns in the Health Records
  • Answers/screens telephone calls and forwards to appropriate personnel. Records phone messages accurately using the EMR.
  • Accurate data entry of patient information.
  • Meets with patients and visitors regarding release of information. Remains friendly through every contact and transaction.
  • Type correspondence, memos, notices, reports accurately.
  • Operates Standard office machines and equipment
  • Produces necessary agency and patient printed materials/notices for distribution.
  • Cross-trains in other areas of office procedures and actively participates in committees and meetings as assigned.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Qualifications:

  • A high school diploma or GED is required.
  • Associate’s Degree is preferred.
