Job Overview

The Head Water Safety Instructor (WSI) is responsible for the coordination, supervision, and execution of the swim lesson program at the aquatic facility. Incumbent will report directly to the manager on duty and oversee the daily delivery of the swim lesson program. The Head WSI ensures the safety of participants, correct delivery of the American Red Cross curriculum, and supervises the instructors/swim aides.

Primary Duties

• Assemble the daily rosters and assign instructors to properly cover all classes
• Schedule teaching staff
• Serve as the primary point of contact for parents and caretakers
• Provide announcements to parents about the program
• Ensure classes begin and end on time
• Supervise the safety of the classes and the correct skills are being taught
• Train new instructors and staff on policies and procedures

Secondary Duties

• Organize administrative paperwork including rosters, skill cards, and progress reports
• Provide customer service for parents including adjusting classes, transferring students, and offering feedback
• Provide teaching coverage for classes as needed
• Provide Emergency Care if needed
• Report to the manager any maintenance issues and provide recommendations on program supplies as needed

Qualifications:

• Must be 18 years of age or older
• Must be Water Safety Instructor Certified
• Must be Lifeguard/CPR/AED/First Aid certified
