About the job
This position is accountable for planning maintenance and coordinating fleet maintenance resources in an assigned area in alignment with the Primary Metals Maintenance Strategy of providing a safe cost effective and high quality service to the customer supporting the reliability excellence (REX) model for asset management. Focus is on fewer equipment failures, fast repair times when equipment has failed and continuous problem solving between maintenance and operating personnel.

MAJOR DELIVERABLES:
  • Support the plant policies assuring that environmental, health and safety are the first priority of the business.
  • Plan and schedule maintenance and related project work on a weekly basis. Generate schedules through a weekly planning meeting with maintenance and production.
  • Direct the day-to-day maintenance activities in support of the operations in the assigned area.
  • Organize and provide all parts, tools and documentation for planned maintenance work. This would include work order task breakdown as necessary to re-route portions of work requiring participation of additional crafts, shops, or departments.
  • Utilize the key performance indicator (KPI) metrics to measure the effectiveness of work performed against expectations of man-hours, cost, and schedules. Continuously improve work instructions and techniques through customer and user feedback.
  • Monitor long-term maintenance schedules and monthly, annual, and multiyear budgets. Provide reporting of key maintenance indices. Manage the backlog for the area being planned for.
  • Monitor activities of bargaining unit employees and identify and provide opportunities to improve their skills and knowledge.
  • Identify and implement continuous improvement activities involving people, equipment and processes.
  • Direct support contact for fleet management team, consult and act a liaison with mobile equipment fleet.

  • This position requires a minimum of a technical associate degree or journey person status in a mechanical or electrical trade, and five years' experience. Supervisory experience preferred.
