POSITION SUMMARY

The Grounds Laborer will maintain grounds of industrial, commercial or public property to include camp and picnic grounds, parks, playgrounds and athletic fields and will operate grounds equipment in the completion of daily job duties.

ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS

· Use hand and arm signals to direct other operators

· Tie down equipment and cargo loads on stake bed trucks and flatbed trailers

· Operate hand sweeper for sweeping, roads, parking areas, etc.

· Use cell phones to communicate with supervisors & service call desk

· Operate Lawn Maintenance equipment such as mowers, edgers, and trimmers

· Rake and remove leaves and other natural debris

· Performs other duties as directed by the Supervisor/Crew Leader

EDUCATION/TRAINING

· High school diploma/GED

EXPERIENCE

· Previous experience in grounds maintenance or landscaping

· Experience operating small to medium sized power equipment

SKILLS/ABILITIES

· Ability to read, write, speak and understand English

· Experience in operating small trucks and grounds maintenance equipment.

· Experience maintaining grounds similar to position requirements.

· Timely completion and accuracy of all work

· Knowledge of performing and documenting complete operational checks for all equipment

· Ability to adhere to contract requirements, safety and health regulations, and Company policies

· Working knowledge in handling hazardous materials, safety, and environmental concerns.

· Must be able to perform work both indoors and outdoors as needed.

· Frequently exposed to noise, dust, dirt and other related hazards.

PHYSICAL DEMANDS

· Lifting, carrying, pushing, and/or pulling up to 50 pounds.

· Must be able to do the following for a period of time: stoop, kneel, reach, lift, walk, weed whack, and sit.

· Some climbing and balancing.

· Position requires work outside up to 8 hrs. per day and exposure to inclement weather conditions or other work conditions by nature

· Generally, the job requires 10% sitting, 45% walking, and 45% standing.

· High noise levels are common with general maintenance.

· Must have the ability to maintain assigned work hours.

· Must have sufficient endurance to perform tasks over long periods of time.

WORK ENVIRONMENT

· Limited physical accommodations available.

· This role requires work in non-office setting, outdoors and industrial locations.

· Work requires exposure to heat/cold, noise, dusts, mist, and/or fumes.

· Required the ability to climb ladders and work at heights.

· Requires wearing personal protective equipment such as COVID-19 mask, safety glasses, fall protection harness, protective-toe footwear, gloves, hard hat, and hearing protection.

· Work hazards include electrical shock, confined spaces, and noise hazards.

SPECIAL REQUIREMENTS

· Must possess a valid driver’s license in the state of employment with an acceptable driving record

· Ability to pass a pre-employment background screening and drug test

· Must complete all mandated training requirements per government and management directives
