Job Duties and Responsibilities
To provide pre-award administrative and technical guidance and support to faculty and staff seeking outside funding for research and public service projects, Coordinates the negotiation of grants, contracts, and sub-contracts for the college’s operating units, the Cooperative Extension Service and Agricultural Experiment Station.
  • Communicates with RAS any errors or language concerns. Communicate with PI if additional information is needed to complete award set-up.
  • Enters funding data into and Access Database to track the college’s grant and contract activity. This position also prepares reports for college executive administration.
  • Creates Streamlyne records and starts grant.gov packages so proposal documents can be uploaded and submitted.
  • Prepare professional communications to be sent to faculty, staff and funding agencies when necessary. Exampled of commutations may include seeking o verify IDC; proposal submission method; or requesting documentation
Classification Summary
Coordinates the pre-award planning, organization, and preparation, and the post-award modification administration of grants assigned to one or more research and/or departments of the university. Interacts with investigators and administrative staff to ensure that grants are in compliance with regulatory, funding agency, and policy requirements. Provides guidance and support to investigators in the identification and development of grant opportunities.
Classification Standard Duties
Prepare & submit proposals, ensuring compliance with all Federal & State regulations. Review, negotiate and process awards and modifications. Provide assistance and guidance to college research centers and P.I.’s on various issues required to submit proposals, process and administer awards. Remain current on changes and updates to Federal, State and University regulations and policies.
Knowledge
Knowledge of current developments/trends in area of expertise. Knowledge of grant funding policies and procedures and applicable local, state, federal and university regulations. Knowledge of federal, state and/or community funding sources and mechanisms. Knowledge of budgeting and fiscal management principles and procedures. Knowledge of potential sources of health care contract and grant funding.
Skills
Skill in the use of personal computers and related software applications. Database management skills. Skill in organizing resources and establishing priorities.
Abilities
Ability to develop and produce grants and other proposals. Ability to determine informational needs, to collect and analyze information, and to devise and develop statistical analyses and reports. Ability to communicate effectively, both orally and in writing. Ability to analyze and interpret financial data and prepare financial reports, statements and/or projections. Ability to provide technical advice and information to faculty and staff in area of expertise. Ability to make administrative/procedural decisions and judgments.
Required Education
Bachelor’s degree in a related field.
Required Experience
One (1) year of experience related to the standard duties as outlined.
Equivalency Any equivalent combination of education and experience.
