Graduate Research Assistant

The Graduate Research Assistant will participate in research and development of laser assisted drug delivery under the supervision of Dr. Manstein. The role will focus primarily on laser tissue interaction and novel drug delivery techniques as well as performing standard laboratory procedures such as tissue culture methods, generating primary cultures, histological processing of tissue and record keeping. The Graduate Research Assistant will be required to conduct research projects in the laboratory, working independently under the general supervision of Dr. Manstein. This position also requires maintenance of the laboratory and the equipment and/or reagents used.
PRINCIPAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: Indicate key areas of responsibility, major job duties, special projects and key objectives for this position. These items should be evaluated throughout the year and included in the written annual evaluation.
- Employee shall design and perform scientific research experiments in the field of optics, cell biology, laser tissue interaction, and microscopy
- Employee shall provide analysis and organization of experimental results.
- There will be routine maintenance work for supporting the laboratory such as general laboratory inventory, autoclaving and procuring and preparing stock reagents for tissue culture as required for own research project.
- Design, analyze, prototype, and develop new systems for skin laser treatments.
- Attend weekly laboratory meetings and project team meetings as needed.
- Maintain adequate research records using electronic lab notebook software.
- Employee installs and updates required applications and software
- Will perform other duties as assigned
SKILLS/ABILITIES/COMPETENCIES REQUIRED: Must be realistic, objective, measurable and related to essential functions of this job.
- Must exhibit initiative and is able to work independently when trained.
- Must have technical ability to perform and/or learn new standard laboratory procedures and be proficient, and accurate in scientific experimentation.
- Ability to work as a team member in a group environment and be of assistance to a number of research projects.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills including making scientific presentations.

Bachelors Degree required. Must be enrolled in a biomedical graduate/medical school program
