The Job
Our client is seeking a GIS Specialist in Houston, TX. You will serve a key role in creating and analyzing daily GIS functionalities. You will focus on maintaining geodatabases containing wet utility infrastructure assets and associated attribute data using ArcGIS software suite. This position includes the acquisition and conversion of spatial data from different sources, detailed analysis of the data, and the subsequent communication of findings through the creation of exhibits and reports for various departments. This position also involves the supervision of GIS Technicians. Candidate must possess strong ArcGIS data conversion, analysis, and editing skills and a well-organized, detailed oriented work process.
Functions:
- Perform project tasks related to GIS, creation, quality control, and maintenance of geodatabases containing wet utility infrastructure assets
- Perform acquisition and conversion of spatial data, subsequent analysis and communication through exhibits and reports
- Perform GPS data collection in the field
- Guide and direct GIS Technicians during work assignments
Qualifications:
- 3 – 5 years of experience in GIS
- Bachelor’s degree in GIS or related field preferred
- Must have a thorough knowledge of the ArcGIS software suite
- Knowledge of ArcGIS server a bonus
- Some knowledge of utility infrastructure preferred
- Proficient with standard Microsoft Tools (Word, Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint, etc.)
- Good organizational and communication skills, both written and verbal, and the ability to prioritize competing tasks
- Attentive and approachable. Able to navigate a dynamic and collaborative work environment
- Proven ability to work cross-functionally in a fast-paced organization
