The General Maintenance Tech I position is an entry level position with room for advancement. You should be a self-motivated individual who can work alone with minimum direction, as well as in a team environment. The day to day tasks include setting up and moving classroom and auditorium furniture. This position will include grounds work, interior and exterior painting, carpentry and basic plumbing skills.
The Maintenance Tech is part of the General Maintenance team, working primarily in Carpentry, Paint, Moves/Setups or Locksmithing. Daily supervision is received from the department lead position and formally reports to the Facilities Manager.

This position works primarily Monday through Friday, 1st shift. The ability to work evenings, weekends for winter storms, and an on-call rotation will be required.

Responsibilities
  • Performs a variety of Building Maintenance functions, primarily related to regular maintenance and completion of basic work orders.
  • May perform some repairs on mechanical systems, basic plumbing, groundskeeping work, painting and carpentry.
  • Assist with setting up or breaking down events
  • Maintains tools, equipment, shop and vehicle in good order
  • Assists in snow removal activities, shoveling, snow blowing, plowing.
  • Complete, understand and comply with initial and annual employee regulatory compliance and safety training as assigned. Complies with all occupational safety and health standards, rules and regulations. Reports all hazards, unsafe work practices and accidents immediately to supervisor.
  • On-Call phone carry responsibilities on a set schedule after training and qualification are met.
  • Performs other duties as required.

Qualifications
High school education, plus 3 to 5 years of relevant technical training/experience, or a combination of education and experience from which comparable knowledge and skills are acquired.
  • Broad base of technical knowledge and skills related to painting, Carpentry, maintenance and repair, as well as general plumbing.
  • Good general knowledge and skills related to building construction and repair.
  • Physical ability to perform all primary job duties.
