We are looking for a passionate and caring Gastroenterology Technician to join our team of skilled professionals and provide health care services to our active duty members and their families at Evans Army Community Hospital!

  • Monday - Friday: 730am – 430pm

ESSENTIAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:

· Screens and checks-in patients and escorts patients to treatment areas.

· Accurately prepares room & patient for examinations, therapeutic measures and procedures assuring all needed equipment and supplies are available prior to the start of the exam.

· Takes, monitors and records physiological measurements.

· Triages urgent needs.

· Assists with medical treatment, diagnostic and therapeutic procedures per treatment protocols.

· Prepares and administers medications under the supervision of a nurse or health care provider.

· Chaperones patients.

· Assembles, maintains, and operates medical, diagnostic and therapeutic equipment.

· Maintains or assists with appropriate and accurate health record storage and retrieval systems.

· Prepares and submits administrative reports.

· Provides patient/parent education as requested.

· Performs or assists with the performance of specialized testing and examinations.

· Assists with routine endoscopic procedures to include: EGD, CSP, ERCP, Ph/Mannometry testing, Hydrogen Breath Analysis, Liver Biopsies, and PEG/PEG-J Placement.

· Assists with emergency procedures to include: GI Bleeds, Food Obstructions, and foreign Body Obstructions.

· Upon completion of procedures and examinations, properly cleans and organizes room and performs any necessary cleaning of equipment as established by departmental policies and procedures and standards.

· Required to perform gastroenterology services.

· Ensures all equipment is properly cleaned and stored at the end of each work shift.

· Ensures preventive maintenance and routine cleaning are performed as directed.

· Ensures a safe work environment and employee safe work habits.

· Provides patients with the utmost care and attention. All patients shall be assured of their privacy and personal dignity.

· Prepares all documentation to meet or exceed established standards of the MTF, to include, but not limited to, timeliness, accuracy, content and signature. Only MTF and Market-approved abbreviations shall be used for documentation of the patient health record.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

· Completion of a medical assisting program recognized and accredited by the Commission on Accreditation of Allied Health Education Programs (CAAHEP) or the Accrediting Bureau of Health Education Schools (ABHES); or certified through the American Association of Medical Assistants (AAMA) for Certified Medical Assistants (CMA); or the American Medical Technologists (AMT) for Registered Medical Assistants (RMA); or equivalent combinations of successfully completed post-high school education and experience (i.e., military training).

· Must have a current specialty area certificate from an accredited national, state or military trained equivalent school, and show the ability to perform position duties.

· Shall have at least 12 months experience within the past 24 months.

· Life Support Certifications: Must possess and maintain current Healthcare Provider Basic Life Support (BLS) and current Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) certifications. These Certifications must be current at all times, at no additional expense to the government.
