Job Overview

Position Schedule: Full-Time

In 2022, Edward Jones invested $ 1 billion in technology infrastructure, digital initiatives, and virtual business enablement tools. Edward Jones is looking for an Open Systems Senior Java Developer who will utilize technical skills and provide technical leadership for team members by interacting with 3rd party vendors, enhancing applications, software, and tools, and providing support to our proprietary and vendor applications the in the Marketing Enablement product area. Our systems are key to the success of the Marketing and Experience Brand Management areas of Edward Jones, including Marketing applications and tools (Salesforce Marketing Cloud, Hearsay Relate, proprietary tools, etc). Solving complex issues and collaborating with other areas to generate solutions and address problems is key to the success of this position.

What You'll Do:
  • Lead - Provide technical leadership related to software development tools, methodologies, best practices, and standards
  • Mentor - Provide guidance, training, and mentorship on the business impact of the systems supported technical systems design, development of best practices, and Technology processes and tools
  • Plan - Assist with defining and meeting business requirements, preparing detailed software specifications, and providing program or system-level estimates
  • Direct - Provide direction as to the effective use of technology within the enterprise architecture
  • Influence - Collaborate with Product Delivery Managers, Product Owners and/or associates in a matrix organization
  • Design - Perform lead analyst role to design, code, test, debug, and maintain programs
  • Develop - Modify and develop complex information systems involving most phases of systems analysis and programming
  • Implement - Analyze, design, code and document programs and enhancements
  • Test - Conduct code walkthroughs to ensure programs meet the specified quality standards
  • Adapt - Shift work between different environments and multitask
  • Monitor - Provide system support including some on-call pager support
  • Responsible for working on JIRA stories and tasks to completion with each sprint, as part of an Agile delivery team that uses Scaled Agile Framework (SAFE)

Skills/Requirements

What You'll Need :
  • Bachelor's Degree required, preferably in Computer Science, Computer Information Systems, or related technical field, or equivalent experience in information systems
  • Minimum of 10 years of experience in designing, developing, and delivering application solutions for enterprise-level development and integration projects
  • Open System development skills such as Java, JEE, JSP, Spring, Spring Boot, Spring JPA, REST, JSON, JUnit, Javascript, Oracle, SQL, Python, Kubernetes, HTML, and XML required
  • Ability to work in both an agile team environment and as an individual contributor and experienced as a experience as a tech lead mentoring multiple junior developers
  • Ability to design, develop, test, document, and implement quality software within targeted timeframes
  • Ability to perform analysis of system requirements to determine feasibility, costs, and benefits and to prepare detailed software specifications and provide program or system level estimates to provide strategic direction and technical leadership to align objectives with the overall Firm strategy
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills including the ability to explain complex technical issues in business terms
  • Presents ideas, thoughts, arguments, and information persuasively. Seen as credible and trustworthy,takes personal responsibility to improve processes and systems
  • The capacity to quickly understand a broad range of emerging technologies and the ability to apply and exploit target technology to support firm objectives
