Alvarez & Marsal Global Marketing is seeking Media Relations Specialists to distribute press releases conduct follow-up media outreach and update media lists on a project basis. Successful candidates will be highly experienced in:

  • Distributing and securing coverage of press releases announcing new appointments, new service offerings, office openings/expansions and acquisitions for professional services, financial services, healthcare, legal and technology clients.
  • Relationships with trade, industry and business media outlets and reporters
  • Following and maintain corporate media policies and procedures.

Managed by the Senior Director of Global Public Relations and Corporate Communication, Contract Media Relations Specialists must be able to work independently and collaboratively along with having superior media relations skills, strong time management experience, the ability to report back on placements and outreach learnings/issues in a timely manner. Additionally, Media Relations Specialists should have strong familiarity with media database platforms such as Cision.

Ideal candidates will have a minimum of 8 years of media relations experience in a professional services firm or within corporate communications practice of a PR agency.

Core Responsibilities:

  • Work with the Senior Director of Global Public Relations on developing/finalizing media lists and identifying strategies to secure coverage of press releases for SBUs across the firm.
  • Ensure all pitch communications align with A&M's narrative, brand standards and media policies.
  • Provide timely updates on media outreach conducted and placements secured.
  • Work with the Global Marketing team to ensure that media coverage is properly reported and accounted for within Global Marketing's broader communications dashboards and reports.

Required Skills:

  • Superior verbal communication and media relations skills
  • Established media contacts across industry/trade publications, including but not limited to the sectors of private equity, energy, health and life sciences, supply chain, automotive, retail and manufacturing.
  • Strong and proven time management skills and the ability to manage multiple assignments with simultaneous deadlines.
  • Demonstrated ability to quickly synthesize and prioritize the elements of a message/story.
  • Experienced conducting media outreach financial, legal, M&A, private equity, restructuring, corporate performance improvement and change management topics.
  • Proficient in the Microsoft Office Suite of applications (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Access and Outlook) and in media databases such as Cision.

Experience and Qualification Requirements:

  • Candidate must have a degree in public relations, communications, journalism or related field.
  • A minimum of 8 years of media relations experience, ideally within a professional services organization or a PR agency corporate communications practice
  • Demonstrated ability to manage multiple projects and deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
