Are you a proven team manager with experience of handling dogs? Do you want to help people and their pets who are escaping domestic abuse?

The Freedom Project Regional Manager is responsible for ensuring the effective delivery of the service by developing, managing and supporting the regional team. You will be responsible for creating successful partnerships with key stakeholders to establish and develop the service region, as well as working across varied work streams within the Outreach Projects department.

Dogs Trust is the UK’s largest dog welfare charity and normally cares for around 14,000 dogs across its network of 21 rehoming centres in the UK and one in Dublin. Dogs Trust has a non-destruction policy and will never put a healthy dog to sleep.

Our Outreach Department consists of several projects which aim to provide advice and support for pet owners who are homeless or in housing crisis in the UK; this includes the Freedom Project, a pet fostering service for people fleeing domestic abuse. However, most of our referrals come from women fleeing domestic abuse via women-only services. The service places dogs into volunteer foster homes on a temporary basis until their owners can have them back. The Freedom Project now runs in Greater London & the Home Counties (Region 1) and Yorkshire, the North East, the North West, Wales and Scotland (Region 2 and 3).

To be successful in this role you will have an animal welfare or dog training/ behaviour qualification with considerable experience of handling a variety of dogs and breeds. You will also be a proven team manager with good presentation skills and the confidence to deliver information effectively to a range of audiences.

Please note that this is a one year fixed term contract opportunity.

Please note that due to the nature of this role, this post is for women only and is exempt under Schedule 9 of the Equality Act 2010.
