Job Description


This is a 2nd Shift position.

SUMMARY

The CMA Operator Level I and II is responsible for all essential duties and responsibilities outlined below. The CMA Operator Level II shall also be proficient at tilting and pouring a master heat. In addition, and when available, a CMA Operator Level III shall be proficient at operating the VIM furnace under the supervision of a Team Lead and/or Master Alloy management team member until certification is completed.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following:

  • Maintain a clean, orderly, and safe work area
  • Wear all required personal protective equipment including full face respirators.
  • Must complete Chromalloy fork lift training
  • Must complete Chromalloy overhead crane training
  • Must complete Chromalloy LOTO and Confined Space training
  • Build, repair, and tear out a crucible assembly
  • Build, repair, and tear out a coil assembly
  • Build, repair, and tear out a tundish assembly
  • Build, repair, and tear out the ingot old box assembly
  • Weigh-up and organize elemental raw materials & revert for melt campaigns
  • Safe operation and preventive maintenance of the ingot stripping press
  • Safe operation and preventive maintenance of the crop saw
  • Safe operation and preventive maintenance of the ingot blast unit
  • Safe operation and preventive maintenance of the sand blast unit
  • (Supervised) safe operation and preventive maintenance of the VIM furnace
  • Document safety checklists prior to start-up of the VIM furnace
  • Maintain and document process control variables
  • Maintain and document traceability of materials
  • Other duties may be assigned as appropriate

QUALIFICATIONS:

EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE:

High school diploma or general education degree (GED); or three to six months related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.

LANGUAGE SKILLS:

Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating & maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals. Ability to write routine reports and correspondence. Ability to communicate effectively with supervisors, engineers, and co-workers.

MATHEMATICAL SKILLS:

Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure using whole numbers, decimals, and fractions. Ability to perform unit conversions.

REASONING ABILITY:

Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, or diagram form. Ability to deal with problems involving several concrete variables in standardized situations.

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is occasionally exposed to extreme heat. The employee frequently works near moving mechanical parts and is frequently exposed to fumes or airborne particles. The employee occasionally works in high, precarious places and is regularly exposed to hot and/or humid conditions and vibration. The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate.
