SVCC is located in a rural setting of rolling hills, pine and hardwood forests, and farmland. There is easy access to nearby metropolitan Richmond, Virginia, the state’s capital, as well as Raleigh, North Carolina, and Lynchburg, Virginia. The area is famous for its two lakes, Gaston and Kerr, and a multitude of state and national parks which offer recreational opportunities such as fishing, boating, skiing, jet-skiing, hiking, horseback riding, picnics, and relaxation. The area also offers sports arenas for baseball, softball, soccer and beautiful golf courses. There are cultural activities including various theaters and arts councils offering concerts, plays, and live entertainment, and there are many local festivals held throughout the year.

SVCC is currently seeking applicants for a Foundation Program Manager for the Christanna Campus in Alberta, VA. The successful candidate must be committed to the mission to provide quality education to a diverse constituency.

As a member of the Institutional Advancement team, this position is responsible for managing the database that drives the Foundation’s fundraising efforts and reporting capabilities. While ensuring data integrity, the incumbent will write queries and reports that will inform fundraising strategy. In addition, the position will manage all gift processing and donor acknowledgement and coordinate the deployment of direct mail and email campaigns. The position will be responsible for coordination of all board and committee meetings including preparation and dissemination of materials and minutes.

The position is also responsible for Foundation operations, ensuring that data and gift processing procedures meet best practices standards and the office operates efficiently.
This position manages the SVCC Foundation scholarship program by providing oversight and direction. This demands an integration of complex functions including student advising on the process, coordination with other departments such as the business office, financial aid, academics and student services. The Foundation Program Manager provides oversight of the application and awarding process, marketing the scholarship program and preparation of payment vouchers and/or invoices for scholarships.

Duties include but are not limited to:
  • Develop Marketing communications plan to promote scholarship application process
  • Collaborate with other student outreach areas to ensure scholarships are promoted broadly
  • Provide support to students and parents through phone calls, email and written communications at all stages of the scholarship process
  • Facilitate scholarship application and awards process
  • Manage donor data base and gift processing
  • Initiate and track purchases and provide budget tracking
  • Provide supervision of a part-time administrative support person and/or work-study student
  • Assist grant writer in preparation and submission of grants and grant reports
  • Work with webmaster to maintain accurate information on Foundation website pages
  • Assist with the coordination of events and special projects both for the college and the Foundation
  • Represent the College at community events
  • Build collaborative relations with other college departments

Special Assignments

May be required to perform other duties as assigned. May be required to assist the agency or state government generally in the event of an emergency declaration by the Governor.



KSA's/Required Qualifications
  • Bachelor’s degree
  • Experience commensurate with the position’s duties; or an equivalent combination of training and experience
  • Experience working with racially, economically and age-diverse individuals
  • Project management skills
  • Experience in managing databases, running basic queries and reports, and distributing information in a professional manner to a variety of stakeholders
  • Ability to organize and prioritize work
  • Experience with responsibility for office operations
  • Excellent customer service experience
  • Excellent proofreading and editing skills
  • Strong technical background with technology and advanced personal computer skills
  • Strong working knowledge of MS Office or comparable software suites
  • Ability to work independently as well as flexibility to work within a team environment and with a wide variety of stakeholders
  • Ability to respond meaningfully to the needs of individuals with respect, sensitivity and civility
  • Ability to give instructions to others, arrive at decisions, develop conclusions and solutions
  • Ability to independently plan, independently organize and implement multiple assigned responsibilities, and work well under pressure to meet deadlines

  • Demonstrated experience with fundraising projects (individuals, businesses, and community organizations) for philanthropic purposes
  • Experience coordinating events
  • Experience using Constant Contact or other e-mail distribution platform
  • Experience working with boards and committees, including meeting preparation/logistics, material preparation and minutes
