Fork Lift Operator
2:30pm to 10:30pm (2nd shift)

GENERAL SUMMARY:

Responsible for actual material movement throughout the plant via a powered material handling vehicle

ESSENTIAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Transfers pallets, skids, or rolls or stock and materials by means of electrically operated or gas engine lift truck
  • Elevates and lowers material, as required, for tier loading or stacking. On occasion, must use crowbar to dislodge pallets which come in contact with the outriggers (on narrow aisle rider stackers only) and obstruct for lowering.
  • Checks for accuracy and places stock in proper locations
  • Fills requisitions according to records issued and loads material onto train.
  • The operator must mount and dismount the vehicle numerous times during the work day to pull/attach paperwork, couple/uncouple train cars. Etc….
  • Performs duties of a Material Handler when operation is not required.
  • Operates automatic stretch wrapper to ensure load integrity during transport or warehouse storage
  • Loads/Unloads trailers as required for material movement to outside warehouse, other AG facilities , or outside vendors. When loading trailers must use electronic scales to weigh pallet load and add the weights together to prevent overweight trailers.
  • Required to work at heights up to 20ft above ground when operating a stock picker
  • May be required to work at outside warehouses. In this case, must secure warehouse before leaving at night
  • Work under Supervisor and/or leader

  • Normal plant environment.
  • May be required to work in excessive hot or cold conditions on the dock during summer and winter months.

Experience Required:

Preferred experience:
2 years fork lift experience in an industrial environment.

Must pass a written test and training period.
