How You’ll Help Transform Healthcare:


Performs a variety of duties as assigned, including but not limited to, assisting patients with menu selection, accurate cash and charge transaction in compliance with department procedures, assembling and delivering trays, snacks, tube feedings, and nourishment, customer relations and service delivery, food preparation and storage, and genral sanitation of the department.


  • Meets with patients to obtain menu and snack selection per physician diet order using laptops, PCs, phone, and any technology currently in use as appropriate and available.
  • Provides catering services for catering events and meetings.
  • Completes cashier duties in cafeterias including ringing up customer sales on cash register, balancing cash drawer, making deposits using provided POS technology.
  • Completes required documentation that includes temperature logs according to documentation requirement.
  • Participates in department activities/meetings, which may include orientation of co-workers, patient/customer satisfaction initiatives, cost reduction initiatives and inspection readiness.
  • Completes all general food service tasks as assigned which may include storeroom, tray assembly and/or delivery and related cleaning.
  • Completes all cleaning and sanitation tasks as assigned.
  • Completes cafe tasks as assigned which may include cash handling and food prep.
  • Administers and documents menus and requests for patient food items utilizing automated computer systems, including electronic medical records.

What We Require:


Education:
High School diploma or GED preferred.

Experience: Two (2) years Food Service experience preferred.

Licensure/Certification: SERV-Safe Certification, equivalent certification from the Virginia Health Department, or the ability to obtain certification within one year of hire date required for employees deemed in charge of departmental operations.

Other: Effective interpersonal, communication, and teamwork skills required. Keyboarding or computer skills for automated computer systems or the ability to learn this skill, including electronic medical records required. Must be adept in communicating with patients, customers, clients, clinical staff to support fulfilling our mission and upholding our 5 Values daily. Must have some knowledge / understanding of diets in EPIC. Position is deemed 'emergency personnel' during emergency weather conditions. Must provide own transportation and travel to other Carilion work sites. May be required to work at other Carilion facilities to meet staffing needs.
