About the Position: The Food Service Worker performs work in the areas of food production, assembly, sanitation, patient care service, storeroom, cafeteria, and catering.

Good to Have:

• High school diploma or equivalent preferred.
• Unicode certification preferred.
• Previous related work experience preferred.
• Basic knowledge of reading, writing and math in order to interpret food production sheets, task descriptions, temperature logs, cleaning lists, computer printouts, and recipes. Must demonstrate knowledge of the principles of growth and development over the patients’ lifespan.
• Able to communicate/interface in an effective and positive manner with hospital staff, patients, visitors, and all others. Organizational skills to prioritize daily work assignments; ability to react and perform under strict timelines and/or emergency situations, ability to exercise some judgment on work to be done.
• Ability to operate applicable kitchen and hospital equipment, manual dexterity to perform job requirements.

• Food safety – proper food handling - understands and follows policies and procedures for proper food & equipment temperatures, hand washing, gloves, hair restraint, food storage, labeling and dating, proper cooling and reheating, and cleaning

• Proper care and use of equipment: safely operates and cleans all equipment according to training and policies and procedures per assigned shift.
• Sanitation – cleans equipment and work areas according to assigned shift.
• Time management – Accomplishes job tasks in given time frames, able to flex for workload (census).
• Problem solving – positive response to change. Able to identify opportunities and provide possible solutions. Seeks way to improve performance.
