JOB DESCRIPTION: Food Service Manager

Overview:
The Food Service Manager (FSM) role is a high profile and a key role for leadership in our food service operations. The FSM will be responsible for the training and development of staff, meeting local and federal government standards, and managing inventory.

This professional will work closely with the District Manager to ensure the contract is executed and the client is satisfied with the overall food and quality of service.

FSM Responsibilities:

  • Responsible to oversee, manage, motivate, train and support (45-55) hourly, unionized employees located at multiple (12-16) schools
  • Conducts all staff reviews and evaluations
  • Performs a daily quality assessment
  • Responsible for menu adherence, food production and ensuring that the production is timely, and the product is visually appealing and of high quality
  • Ensures conformance with all policies, procedures, guidelines and government and accrediting agency standards regarding food safety, storage, preparation, handling, sanitation, record keeping and equipment maintenance
  • Monitors and reviews the purchasing, receiving, storing, and preparing of food and related products; Ensures orders are within budget and at appropriate inventory levels.
  • Establishes and maintains excellent client relations and customer satisfaction with CPS administration; Returns all email and phone messages within a timely manner
  • Ensures consistent and equitable administration of HR policies, procedures, and guidelines to facilitate effective employee relations
  • Can be responsible for monitoring staffing levels, supervision, directing orientation, on-the-job training, in-service training and continuing education programs.
  • Conducts daily team calls with the school dining managers
  • Participates in client and corporate related community service outings and events on an as needed basis
  • Provides weekly/monthly analysis of financial performance including flash reports and P&L reviews.
  • Ensure compliance with state, federal and local laws (i.e. liquor, labor, OSHA, health and sanitation, etc.)
  • Client relations – interact with client in the dining areas, ensuring exemplary guest experiences
  • Attend daily Food Management calls

Qualifications:

  • Bachelors degree in business, dietetics, nutrition, or other related areas of study is preferred
  • Must have a minimum of 3 years of food service management experience
  • Multi-site experience is preferred
  • K-12/ Health care/ University food service management experience is preferred
  • Must have excellent interpersonal skills, ability to build relationships along with a strong sense of food production
  • Must be a self-motivated manager able to handle a variety of situations with the ability to multi-task
  • Familiar with inventory management and control
  • Excellent problem solving and analytical ability is necessary for success in this role
  • Must be proficient with smart phones, lap top computers and proficient in MS Office
  • Must have reliable transportation to travel between site locations
  • Ability to speak Spanish is a plus
  • Ability to demonstrate excellent customer service
  • Ability to maintain an effective working relationship with other departments to a unified food service experience for all customers
  • Requires occasional lifting, carrying, pushing, and pulling up to 50 lb.
  • Must be able to stand for extended periods of time.

Pay: $60,000.00 per year
