Sunrise Aviation provides flight instruction to FSCJ students enrolled in their Aviation Program. Under general supervision, the Flight Dispatcher assists in the coordination of flight dispatch and logistical services for Sunrise Flight Academy. This includes assisting the Assistant Chief Flight Instructor with making the flight schedule, reviewing aircraft acceptance documentation, weight and balance calculations, weather products and services, releasing flights, maintaining logs, recording flight times, briefing the Director of Operations on aircraft maintenance requirements, monitoring student weather qualifications, coordinating sales of pilot supplies, processing fuel sales and ramp fees, prepares and creates invoices for each flight, reviews all sales and billing materials, serves as receptionist and answers telephones, maintains organization of the flight dispatch operations control area. Other duties as assigned. Works closely with Florida State College, Jacksonville.

The Flight Dispatcher has operational control of the day-to-day flight operations. This includes the evaluation of meteorological information to determine potential hazards to safety of flight, review of student flight plans and aircraft acceptance documents, review of NOTAMS and many other informational components required for flight operations. The Flight Dispatcher may delay or cancel flights if unsafe conditions threaten the safety of flight.

Job requirements include the ability to interpret and understand aviation terminology, use of aircraft radio communications equipment, data entry, knowledge of aircraft performance charts, navigation charts, ability to provide ground handling and ramp services, and knowledge of aviation weather products and services. No aviation experience needed, just an aptitude and willingness to learn. The ability to work in a fast-paced, rapidly changing environment with close attention to detail and strict adherence to applicable Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) regulations and company policies.
