What You’ll Do

This employee works under general supervision of the Service Manager, Service Supervisor, or designated Lead Technician. This employee with proper training and experience will diagnose minor mechanical and electrical problems working in accordance with all standard repair practices along with Federal and State compliance guidelines. This position will road test vehicles to ensure the quality and effectiveness of repairs performed along with identifying potential concerns and will exercise judgement and discretion in resolving issues or making repairs. This position will include performing all other duties / skills in lesser classifications.

This position will perform in depth Diagnostics, Road Tests, rebuilds, repairs and replacements of defective parts along with having industry knowledge of the proper Standard Repair Practices per the H.D. industry/O.E.M. requirements

What We’re Looking For

Skill Area: A/C & Heater

Operate the system and recognize if the system is working correctly or not
Perform basic system checks such as power to compressor, visual inspection of all components and identify defects and Freon/ oil leaks

Skill Area: Brakes

  • Identify all components of the brake system
  • Operate brakes and identify irregular noises and air leaks
  • Perform simple air system test
  • Measure Brake lining thickness both Disc and Drum
  • Properly adjust brakes
  • Measure Drum, Rotors and Cam Bushings

Skill Area: Lift Gate

  • Identify Make and Model
  • Properly operate unit
  • Identify basic malfunctions, identify leaks, and properly add fluid

Skill Area: Electrical

  • Visually inspect Batteries, Alternator, Belts
  • Clean, test and replace Batteries if needed with proper test equipment
  • Perform basic charging system checks with proper test equipment

Skill Area: Clutch / Transmission

  • Identify proper clutch and clutch brake operation
  • Identify proper transmission shifting and fluid levels

Skill Area: Cooling System

  • Visually inspect system for leaks
  • Check and adjust coolant levels if needed
  • Make minor repairs such as hose replacements, fan shrouds, fittings
  • Ability to identify the different types of coolant used
  • Proper use of Pressure Tester and adapters
  • Proper use of Refractometer and Calibration standards
  • Flush, refill and properly bleed systems

Skill Area: Lighting System and Electrical Accessories

  • Replace Bulbs, Lens’ and simple light assemblies
  • Repair minor lighting problems and simple wire repairs
  • Install or replace Mirrors, Fans, and accessories

Skill Area: Driveline & Axles

  • Inspect housing for leaks, proper fluid level and adding proper lubricant
  • Inspect all component of drive line systems for wear or damage
  • Properly lubricate Driveline and axles if required

Skill Area: Fuel Systems

  • Replace and properly prime fuel system
  • Check all components such as lines, pick up tubes, return lines for proper integrity and condition
  • Identify presence of contamination

Skill Area: Steering and Alignment

  • Lubricate grease fittings and check and adjust fluid levels
  • Identify alignment issues
  • Check all Steering components for wear
  • Ability to adjust wheel bearings properly and Wheel Seal replacement

Skill Area: Preventative Maintenance

  • Proper Lube Techniques
  • Brake check and applied stroke measurements
  • Battery and associated systems check
  • Operational check of all systems and identify worn or loose components
  • Initial fault code identification

Skill Area: Transport Refrigeration

  • Proper operation and inspection of unit
  • P.M. Services
  • Identify defects
  • Verify Temperatures upon operation and correct cycles

Skill Area: Suspension, Chassis and Cab

  • Identify makes and models
  • Identify normal operation and settings
  • Identify and repair minor air leaks
  • Identify defects of basic nature, broken springs, leaking shocks, excessive wear on bushings and components

Skill Area: Vehicle Coupling System

  • Properly operate slider assembly
  • Lubricate plate and slider assembly
  • Identify proper operation, damage, and adjustment


Physical Requirements:

  • Must be able to lift up to 75 pounds at times
  • Must be able to pass post offer drug test, and physical

Compensation:

  • Hourly $31-$40 based on experience and qualifications
