Under the supervision of the Fleet Manager, the Fleet Supervisor is responsible for overseeing all fleet maintenance operations for the counties and operations of their assigned area.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS/DUTIES
  • Coordinate with the Operations Department to schedule all vehicle maintenance activities.
  • Maintain and monitor a preventive fleet maintenance schedule to assure the timely service and safe operation of all fleet vehicles.
  • Monitor and maintain a warranty system with Ford, Leader Industries, and other vendors to track all vehicles needing work, and scheduling work cost efficiently.
  • Monitor the need for and schedules all gurney maintenance.
  • Purchases all fleet maintenance materials and parts.
  • Maintain accurate records of parts and materials inventory.
  • Coordinate with vendors for the delivery of, and receive and inspect all new fleet vehicles.
  • Coordinate the sale of all used fleet vehicles and equipment.
  • Oversee the safe operation of all maintenance activities and ensure compliance with all company, OSHA, and city codes and/or regulations.
  • Perform vehicle maintenance as needed.
  • Evaluate and test new products and equipment to maintain the cost and time efficiency of fleet maintenance operations.
  • Resolve immediate problems in the worksite.
  • Investigate incidents and complaints.
  • Assist in training and continuing education.
  • Supervise Fleet personnel and related functions.
  • Assist with employee investigations and grievance hearings.
  • Mentor employees, conduct performance evaluations if applicable, counsel and provide disciplinary actions to assigned personnel with a goal of developing a team oriented approach with positive results.

QUALIFICATIONS
  • Experience: At least four years of Fleet Maintenance experience. Two years of supervisory experience in a lead technician role, supervisor or other management role requiring a thorough knowledge of safe working practices, DOT, OSHA and other federal and state regulations.
  • Education: High school diploma or GED Skills: Ability to read, analyze, and interpret professional journals, technical procedures, or governmental regulations. Ability to write reports, business correspondence and procedure manuals. Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from individuals or groups of employees, managers, health care professionals and the general public. Knowledge of diesel engine maintenance and vehicle electrical systems. Knowledge of preventive maintenance practices and scheduling. Effective oral, written and interpersonal communication skills. At least one year of supervisory experience is preferred. Knowledge of inventory control systems and purchasing is also preferred.
  • Automotive Service Excellence (ASE) Certification

WORKING CONDITIONS AND MENTAL/PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS Working Conditions:
Exposed to various weather conditions, noise, vibrations
May require travel.

Physical Demands:
Exert up to 100 lbs. of force occasionally, and/or up to 50 lbs. of force frequently, and/or up to 20 lbs. of force constantly to move objects. Visual acuity, depth perception, vision, and focus
