Are you our next Fitness Instructor?

The purpose of this position is to plan, implement and evaluate safe and effective group and individual physical activity programs for older adults and caregivers. These include but are not limited to Tai Chi, Strength Training, Yoga, QiGong, and Dance classes.

This position is part-time with variable days and hours. Monday through Friday. 8:00 am - 4:30 pm. This position is not eligible for benefits.


Nature of Work/Examples of Work Performed

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

ESSENTIAL:
  • Develops relationships with class participants that will ensure cooperation and positive outcomes and experiences.
  • Plans and implements classes designed to meet the needs of individual participants.
  • Assists in recruiting and admitting new class participants.
  • Helps participants with required intakes and health questionnaires as needed. Turns all required forms in to staff for data entry purposes.
  • Collects class fees when applicable, writes receipts and turns fees into central office in a timely manner.
  • Logs class attendance information and turns completed reports in to central office as required for program evaluation and planning purposes.
  • Assists individual older adults and caregivers in designing personal fitness programs as appropriate.
NON-ESSENTIAL:
  • Helps with television programs, special events, health education programs and promotional activities.

Desirable Knowledge, Abilities & Skills/Desirable Training & Experience

DESIRABLE KNOWLEDGE, ABILITY AND SKILLS:

Experience and knowledge in planning and leading physical activity classes for targeted populations. Empathy for and and an interest in working with older adults and caregivers required. Instructor must be responsible, able to work autonomously and use sound judgment in case of an emergency.

Communication, organizational skills and a desire to develop creative ways to serve target populations are a plus.


Minimum Qualifications/Necessary Special Requirements

Knowledge of CPR and first aid procedures is required.


To be eligible for insurance benefits, employees must work at least 30 hours per week.

To be eligible for the retirement plan, employees must work at least 20 hours per week.

Temporary, seasonal, and unclassified employees are not eligible for benefits.
