Education/Experience at lower level: Position requires a Bachelor's Degree in Engineering from an ABET-accredited college or university and 0 to 2 years of practical work experience necessary to perform the responsibilities outlined above. Successful completion of the Fundamentals of Engineering exam is desired.
This position may be subject to DOE Order 426.2, Personnel Selection, Training, and Qualification Requirements for DOE Nuclear Facilities. This DOE Order establishes entry-level requirements to ensure employees in the positions can successfully perform the requirements of the job. DOE 426.2 requires a BS degree, 2 years job related experience and 1 year non-reactor nuclear experience for technical support personnel who perform work independently at nuclear facilities. The Engineer 1 position would be expected to be able to obtain the nuclear experience on the job if they do not have it upon hire before becoming fully-qualified.
Education/Experience at higher level: Position requires a Bachelor's Degree in Engineering from an ABET-accredited college or university and a minimum of 3 years of practical work experience necessary to perform the responsibilities outlined above. - Knowledge of analysis and calculations techniques to support engineered solutions.
- Ability to effectively communicate engineering solutions both verbally and written with management, customers, peers, and maintenance personnel.
- Working knowledge of Microsoft software products (i.e. Word, Excel, Microsoft Teams, Outlook, etc.)
Additional Job Requirements for Nuclear Facilities Engineer 2:
- Demonstrated experience with major commercial, industrial, or nuclear facility fire protection systems (i.e. Fire Alarm, Fire Suppression, Specialty fire suppression systems, passive fire systems (fire barriers), inertion systems, and/or public address systems.
- Demonstrated experience with engineering design process and/or maintenance of fire protection systems.
- Demonstrated experience with fire modeling software and its application.
- Demonstrated experience with codes and standards, to include but not limited to the IBC, IEBC, NFPA, IFC, and/or UFC.
