A Day in the Life:

Our Financial Services Representatives provide a complete member service experience by working with members to review their overall financial situation and make product or service recommendations. The position uses sound judgment while assisting members with professionalism, integrity, accuracy and expediency.

Schedule

  • This position requires working a standard 40 hour week during Branch hours of operations
    • Monday – Thursday 8:45am-5:45pm
    • Friday 8:00am-6:15pm
    • Rotating Saturdays 8:45am-1:15pm
  • Employees work every other Saturday and receive a consistent day off during the week to offset their hours
  • Scheduled hours could change based on business need and future department growth.

Pay & Benefits

  • This position starts at $18.00/hour and includes shift premiums of an additional $2.00/hour for Saturday hours.

Work Location - This position is an onsite role at the assigned branch.

  • Assist members in a friendly, professional manner, and support the Credit Union’s mission statement

  • Analyze, research and resolve problems and discrepancies
  • Use knowledge and judgment to protect members and the Credit Union from loss
  • Understand and comply with federal and other regulations relating to financial products and services as well as MSUFCU policies and procedures and regulations pertaining to the Bank Secrecy Act
  • Follow safety and security procedures regarding robbery and emergency situations, third party access to secure areas, and communicate suspicious activity to management.
  • Participate in training activities to ensure compliance with Credit Union policies, state and federal regulations
  • Manage time efficiently and take initiative within the branch; seek opportunities to develop or enhance knowledge
  • Actively participate in Credit Union initiatives and promotions and achieve assigned financial service goals
  • Take on risk and utilize lending and disbursal limits commensurate with level
  • Counsel current and prospective members about Credit Union products and services

  • Education/Certification: High school graduate or equivalent.
  • Experience Required: No Financial Industry experience necessary; Customer Service experience preferred.

    • Processes consumer loans, IRAs, and specialty accounts with support from others
    • Responsible for processing new account applications independently
  • Financial Services Loan Officer I -
    • Approves, processes, and disburses consumer loans, new accounts, IRAs, and specialty accounts independently while offering additional products and services
    • Takes ownership of complex transactions with confidence, knowledge, and creativity
  • Financial Services Loan Officer II -
    • Assists members and coworkers with greater depth of knowledge of products, services, and procedures, becoming a resource in the branch
    • Assumes risk and utilize lending limits commensurate with the level while assisting others in the decision-making of Consumer Loans
    • Processes, reviews, and closes home equity loans with support from others
  • Financial Services Loan Officer III -
    • Assists with the training of others
    • Leads and actively supports others through training, promotions, decision-making, and risk assessment
    • Identifies opportunities and make suggestions for process improvements
  • Senior Financial Services Loan Officer -
    • Shares advanced knowledge of consumer loans, new accounts, home equity loans, and specialty accounts independently while actively mentoring others.
    • Participates in training activities within the branch and the Learning and Development department; such training helps ensure staff compliance with Credit Union policies and state and federal regulations and laws.
    • Takes initiative to recognize and take action on complex situations

Physical Demands and Work Environment

  • May be required to remain in a stationary position for an extended period of time.
  • Ability to operate standard office technology, equipment and tools, which may include many hours of computer and phone usage.
  • Occasionally needs to move about inside of office area
  • Exposure to potentially hazardous condition, i.e. robbery. Receives detailed instructions and procedures to be followed to minimize the exposure
  • This position requires onsite presence at the employee’s assigned location for all scheduled shifts.

Experience

Preferred
  • 1 - 5 years: Customer Service Experience
  • 1 - 5 years: Financial Experience

Education

Required
  • High School or better
