Primary Function

This position will be responsible for overseeing the Finance Planning, Budgeting, Reporting and Analysis functions for the Wholesale business unit within the North America Water Heating (NAWH) segment.

Scope of Responsibility

  • Forecast and Analyze P&Ls with profitable annual net sales of $ 1.2B.
  • Collaborate with NAWH-FP&A team to meet forecasting and other project deadlines summarized below
  • Provide reporting and forecasting support for 10 manufacturing locations and numerous distribution centers

Responsibilities

  • Lead the Financial Planning, Budgeting, Reporting and Analysis functions for the Wholesale business unit.
  • Provide analysis for new product and other decision making throughout the A.O. Smith New Product Development Process (AOS-NPD). Analysis would include impacts on the P&L, balance sheet, cash flows, PAR index, payback and others as needed)
  • Provide analysis in support of our Performance Excellence Process including presentation preparation for various senior leaders.
  • Actively participate in the SIOP (Sales, Inventory and Operations Planning) process in support of the Wholesale business unit.
  • Collaborate with local accountant responsible for export administration and accounting. Become knowledgeable regarding accounting, tax and legal requirements of the export markets that we operate or intend to operate in.
  • Provide expertise and advice to managers, manufacturing locations and distribution centers to help them develop budgets, understand financial reports, and manage their financial responsibilities. Incumbent to back up the Director of FP&A in other accounting areas.
  • Develop financial mindset within adjacent departments.
  • Other activities may include: ad-hoc financial analysis and reporting for internal and external auditors and financial analysts; internal report rationalization and standardization; customer agreement adherence for payment terms; joint-venture P&L preparation and presentation; balance sheet metrics and forecasting; regulatory reports and filings.
  • Additional responsibilities may be assigned as necessary.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in finance or accounting
  • 5+ years related work experience
  • 2+ years of supervisory/leadership experience preferred

(Preferred qualifications- nice to have, but not required)


  • CPA and/or Master's degree preferred
  • Advanced analytical and technical GAAP knowledge
  • Experience with internal controls and SOX/404 requirements
  • Experience collecting, organizing, analyzing, and modeling significant amounts of information quickly.
  • High degree of accuracy with attention to detail and ability to meet strict deadlines. Demonstrated ability to effectively manage multiple and frequently changing priorities. Excellent verbal and written communication skills to communicate with all levels of the organization
  • Ability to work independently and with a team providing direction to team members
  • Ability to work with confidential information
  • Proficient with Microsoft Office, including Excel, Word, and Outlook
  • Experience in SAP, Tableau and BI, a plus.
