STATUS: Non-exempt, regular full-time
DEPT/LOCATION: Operations – Financial Crimes (Fresno HQ)*
Job Summary and Scope of Responsibility*: Perform high-level, complex and special project tasks related to financial crimes. Serve as subject matter expert and provide guidance to the team. Direct workflow and ensure adherence to service level agreements and quality standards.

  • Lead the research and analysis of deposit account and on-line banking transactions/activities and reports to detect and prevent possible fraudulent and suspicious activities. Recommend disposition of transactions. Identify control gaps and recommend enhancements.
  • Mine customer, account, and transactional data to develop segmentation to improve fraud detection and minimize impact to legitimate transactions. Convert monitoring analysis into recommendations for specific fraud operations initiatives. Implement changes and perform post-implementation tracking to ensure that targets are attained.
  • Collaborate with and serve as the primary liaison with stakeholders including Deposit Operations, Risk Management, law enforcement and external vendors to provide education and coordinate efforts to identify, prevent and respond to fraud.
  • Evaluate and coordinate required action for all fraud related incidents from banking centers, deposit operations and client contact center.
  • Provide training and guidance to financial crimes analysts to help them become proficient at researching and analyzing customer accounts for possible fraud. Monitor the quality of their daily work product.
  • Conduct routine research to monitor trends in deposit account and e-banking fraud and new or pending regulatory changes. Recommend and coordinate the implementation of updates to procedures and processes.
  • Monitor existing models/strategies and ensure they meet false-positive and detect rate criteria. Explain variances and recommend remedial actions.
  • Monitor and maintain current knowledge of the rules and regulations surrounding check fraud and the actions required by the Bank for each type; e.g. forged endorsement, counterfeit item, and altered check.

  • Proficiency at navigating through job specific platforms and applications.
  • Computer proficiency, including internet browsers and Microsoft Office Suite products.
  • Ability to perform essential job functions independently, with minimal supervision.
  • Proficiency at speaking, reading and writing English.

Experience and/or Education:*

  • Five years of experience working in various aspects of electronic and other types of fraud prevention, detection and risk management
  • Knowledge of Early Warnings System (EWS), preferred.
  • Certified Fraud Examiner (CFE) certification, preferred.
