Job Summary:

Responsible for oversight and preparation of financial statements and financial activities of the organization. Duties include supervision of other Finance Department employees, compilation of financial reports and implementation and adherence to financial policies and procedures within the organization to ensure compliance with Federal, State, and Local laws, regulations and best practices.

Supervisory Responsibilities:

· Oversee the daily workflow of the department, ensuring activities are done in an efficient and timely manner.

· Partner and support the C.F.O. in financial reporting and compliance areas.

· Partner with other departments to ensure knowledge of company practices, trends and financial needs.

· Partners with Human Resources to recruit, interview, hire, and train new staff within the Finance Department.

Duties/Responsibilities:

· Plan, direct and coordinate all operational accounting functions within the organization.

· Manage the accumulation and consolidation of all financial date required for accurate accounting and preparation of financial statements.

· Coordinate and prepare internal and external financial statements within established deadlines/time frames.

· Support the C.F.O. with the planning, preparation and coordination of activities of external auditors.

· Provide management with information, as requested or required, vital to the decision-making process.

· Assist the C.F.O. with the budget process, and with maintaining communications with budget managers to distribute and understand status of budget, as assigned.

· Assess current accounting operations, offer recommendations as appropriate.

· Prepare financial documents such as business reports, financial statements and financial forecasts to understand the financial state of the organization within established deadlines/time frames and as requested/required.

· Supervise employees who work under the Controller in preparing financial reports, statements and budgets.

· Monitor the company’s financial reports to determine trends in the business atmosphere, providing support to the C.F.O.

· Monitor budgets and Identify cost savings measures. Partner with the C.F.O. to determine any necessary actions.

· Keep up-to-date on the financial market to determine how to maximize profits and lower expenses, by reviewing expenses and trends. Partner with the C.F.O. to determine any necessary actions.

· Understand the financials of the organization in order to meet legal requirements and to maintain the company’s financial status in a state of good standing,

· Serve as a back-up to the Human Resources Manager.

· Serve as a back-up to the Payroll Clerk/Administrator.

· Performs other related duties as assigned.

· Strong background and proficiency in accounting principles

· Proficient with Microsoft Office Suite, Company Software (presently Sage), accounting software

· Sound knowledge of accounting fundamentals, accounting process and procedure, knowledge of Sarbanes-Oxley Act regulations and requirements

Education and Experience:

High school diploma or equivalent with a minimum of Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Financial Management, or similar field, with additional education in Business Management or Business Administration preferred

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: $65,000.00 - $85,000.00 per year
