General Summary of the Position
Performs tasks involving physical labor in fabrication of piping spools in accordance with ASME B31.3, B31.8.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities (following are accountabilities included but not limited to):
  • Performs a variety of tasks involving strenuous manual labor in construction and installation projects.
  • Operates a variety of hand and power tools.
  • Maintains a clean job site; pick up all tools and equipment and secure job site each day to eliminate potential hazards.
  • Loads and unloads trucks and hauls and hoists materials.
  • Ensures that proper safety and incident reporting procedures are followed. Brings problems to the attention of the Field HSE Coordinator, Field Foreman, or Field Superintendent.
  • Other duties as assigned to meet the needs of the business.

Skills and Abilities
  • Knowledge of proper use of equipment, materials, and supplies used in fabrication and assembly of gas processing plants.
  • Some knowledge of first aid and applicable safety procedures.
  • Ability to work independently and complete daily activities according to work schedule.
  • Ability to lift heavy objects, walk and stand for long periods of time and perform strenuous physical labor under adverse field conditions.
  • Ability to communicate orally and in writing.
  • Ability to use equipment and tools properly and safely.
  • Ability to understand, follow and transmit written and oral instructions.
  • Ability to meet attendance schedule with dependability and consistency.
  • Proficient with tools common to pipe fabrication (i.e. beveling machines, oxy-fuel cutting torches, etc.)
  • Ability to field fit and fabricate piping and assemblies using isometric drawings, following quality control procedures to ensure the products meet the required specifications
  • Proficient in performing piping layouts such as branch connections, dummy legs, off sets, etc.
  • Produces finished welds that meet the standards of the applicable Code of Construction and maintains a radiographic acceptance rate determined by company and client to be acceptable for the piping system, job, and environmental conditions.
  • Possesses a willingness to provide in-situ instruction to assigned helper
  • Understands and complies with Rig Owner Policy (attached to Job Description).


Education, Training and Experience
  • Ability to pass ASME Section IX welding test using SMAW process on carbon and low alloy steel as a minimum and GTAW on stainless steel.
  • Any combination of training and experience that demonstrates ability to perform the work.
  • Must be able to read and interpret drawings.

Work Context
  • Regularly works near moving mechanical parts and in outside conditions that include inclement weather, heat and humidity, and exposure to dust and other particles.
  • Must be able to lift, push, pull or carry objects, use abdominal and lower back muscles to provide support over time without fatigue.
  • Requires good manual dexterity (hand, hand with arm, two hands) and multi-limb coordination.
  • Noise level is generally loud.
  • Must be able to quickly move arms and legs.
  • Excellent stamina is required.
  • Must be able to work in elevated areas.
  • Must be able and willing to travel for extended periods of time.
