Jacobs is seeking a Field Inspector to join our team in Fort Lauderdale, FL. As the Field Inspector, you will be reporting directly to the Sr. Project Manager, this position will be part of the Owner’s Representative (OR) management team and work at their site office supporting the project team. Duties will include field observations of projects from the start of construction through occupancy. You will also be responsible for technical and administrative work related to the construction of mid-range to larger scale and more complex projects. In this role, you will be required to review contract documents and become familiar with the project requirements, conduct on-site observations to determine conformance with contract requirements and to ensure that an acceptable quality of construction is achieved, and that the work has been completed.

Primary Responsibilities:

  • Responsible for reviewing contract documents, shop drawings and related construction documents.
  • Conducts on-site observations during the construction phase.
  • Prepares daily observation and project meeting reports.
  • Attends assigned meetings along with the PM to cover weekly job progress meetings.
  • Review of payment applications and change orders.
  • Monitors the construction schedules and reports on progress.
  • Assists in the preparation of punch list and closeout documentation.
  • Performs related work as required.
Here’s What You’ll Need:
  • High school diploma or GRE plus ten (10) years of experience at a construction superintendent level or higher or any equivalent combination of related training and experience.
  • Thorough knowledge of industry standards and construction quality practices.
  • Thorough knowledge of materials, methods, principles and practices used in the construction trades.
  • Familiarity with building codes and regulations.
  • Ability to read and interpret construction plans and specifications and the ability to recognize deviations from such plans in the construction process.
  • Ability to comprehend and present ideas effectively, both orally and in writing (good communications skills).
  • Ability to create and submit clear and concise reports in a timely method.
  • Understanding of construction schedules and payment applications.
  • Ability to develop and maintain effective working relationships with Architects, Contractors, Engineers, school personnel and the public.
  • Understanding and some skill level with estimating in order to develop simple estimates for changes.
