Job Summary


Work study duties in the area are flexible to meet both the growth goals of the student and the business needs of the DEI Center. Required duties are marked with an asterisk, while others are open to the student’s development goals:
  • Escort and provide directions to visitors at the Welcome desk*
  • Remind guests to follow posted Gallery Etiquette/Rules in the Art Gallery*
  • Assist with the planning, improvement and delivery of DEI Center events and workshops*
  • Serve as a student representative on the Social Justice and Equity Alliance at monthly meetings*
  • Keep DEI Center resources and shared use spaces organized and presentable*
  • Assist with drafting, designing, printing, and posting DEI educational and promotional materials in Canva, including Walkway to Hope displays
  • Co-facilitate workshops with guidance of the DEI Coordinator
  • Provide information to students at DEI Center outreach events (e.g. Welcome Week, Geckoland)*
  • Assist with reviewing, updating, or completing minor projects (e.g. Serenity Room Visitor’s Guide, Learning Resources page)
  • Develop and implement new event ideas and opportunities for student engagement around DEI topics with the Coordinator
  • Place sidewalk signs around campus for DEI Center programming
  • Disinfect and clean shared-use surfaces
  • Clean and organize DEI Center supplies as needed
  • Learn and operate popcorn machine

Desired Qualifications


  • Basic computer skills (email, word processing, web navigation)
  • Food handler’s card required for events (training is available if hired)
  • Functional Spanish-bilingual verbal competency is desired for greeting and assisting guests who only speak Spanish, but not a requirement for hire

In order to qualify for a Federal Work-Study (FWS) job, a FAFSA (Free Application for Federal Student Aid) must be on file for the current award year and have eligible financial need based on the college requirements. Please contact the Financial Aid Office for more information prior to applying to a Federal Work-Study job.

  • FWS is a need-based, federally funded program.
  • FWS requires the completion of a Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA), and confirmation of federal work-study eligibility as determined by the financial aid office.
  • FWS does not directly pay for tuition, and funds are only available to eligible students attending a minimum of six (6) degree applicable hours in a federal student aid eligible program.
  • The FWS award amount is based on your FAFSA results and college funding availability, which will determine the number of hours available to work while supporting the student’s academic goals.
