Working under the direction of the Maintenance Manager is responsible for building, repairs and maintenance work.
Core Responsibilities:
MURPHY-BROWN LLC d/b/a Smithfield Hog Production seeks Farm Maintenance Tech 3 Maintenance Tech Leads in Yuma, CO.

Job Duties: Responsible for maintenance and repairs as requested by production and directed by the maintenance manager. Scheduling work with the applicable farm leader including arranging for help from a farm employee. Minimizing driving time by assuring appropriate supplies for each job are stocked on the service truck. Completing work in a timely manner and submitting a final report on the work order to the maintenance leader. Responsible for working with the milling operation on preventative maintenance and cost saving initiatives as they relate to maintenance opportunities. Responsible for being in compliance with all environmental laws and procedures to which Smithfield Hog Production subscribes. Report all environmental issues immediately to their supervisor. Read and understand the company’s emergency notification process and will be responsible for reviewing that policy at their worksite. Responsible for understanding all safety requirements of the job and for performing the job in compliance with all Smithfield and OSHA safety policies. Assist supervisor in coordinating prioritization and scheduling of maintenance orders and projects. Responsible for preventative maintenance coordination and planning. Assist supervisor with inventory and organization of the parts warehouse. Assist supervisor with the training of new maintenance techs. Report weekly to supervisor the status of workorders and ongoing projects for the week.

Requirements: Bachelor’s degree or foreign equivalent in Agricultural Engineering, Construction Management, Industrial Engineering or a related discipline and two (2) years of experience in the job offered or related occupation performing electrical troubleshooting and repair, welding, and plumbing. 15% travel required.

Qualifications:
To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily.   • High School Diploma or GED equivalent required.
  • Minimum of 2 years’ experience in a maintenance, construction, or related field.
  • Minimum of 2 years’ experience in electrical troubleshooting and repair, welding experience and plumbing experience.
  • Must have a minimum of 2 years’ experience with Smithfield Maintenance.
  • Must be able to operate a 4WD truck and trailer.
  • Ability to operate a backhoe, forklift and other heavy equipment, preferred.
  • Must have good organizational skills.
  • Must have good communications skills.
  • Must be willing to follow biosecurity rules.
  • Must maintain PQA Plus Certification.
  • Rotating days off requires weekend and holiday work.
  • Must be able to work an average 45 hour week with average 9 hour workday, which can vary frequently.
  • Be on call, if needed.
  • Be willing to respond to emergencies after hours, if needed.
  • Must be able to work evenings and weekends when necessary.
  • Must be able to do basic math and record accurate records.
  • Ability to work well with others in fast paced, dynamic environment.
  • Ability to be respectful, approachable and team oriented while building strong working relationships and a positive work environment.
Work Environment & Physical Demands:
  • Must be able to walk and stand on concrete for 9 – 12 hours per day.
  • Must be able to frequently climb over, under, and around penning.
  • Must be able to occasionally lift 50 lbs.
  • Must be able to tolerate animal dander, manure, dust, odors, and frequently noisy conditions.
