Since 1971, Hampton-Newport News Community Services Board has provided a comprehensive continuum of high-quality, essential, and community-based services to citizens of the Peninsula who are affected by mental illness, developmental disabilities, and substance use disorders.
The Family Peer Support Partner (FPSP) is a person with lived experience as the primary caregiver for youth, adolescent, or young adult with an MH/SUD diagnosis. The FPSP will provide family peer support services to primary caregivers and individuals with an MH/SUD diagnosis to include family support, education, advocacy, mentoring, information, referrals, and follow-up to families seeking family peer support services and other treatment. The FPSP may also support primary caregivers and individuals with basic physical, financial, social, personal, and recovery needs.

Requirements:
Must be a person who has lived experience as the primary caregiver of a youth, adolescent, or young adult with MH/SUD. Experience supporting other families to obtain appropriate services and supports for their child and family is preferred. Familiarity with local resources and knowledge of how to access them. Certified Peer Recovery Specialist is preferred. Valid VA Driver's License
The selected candidate must successfully pass a criminal history fingerprint background investigation, DMV record check, Child Registry search, drug screening test and employment reference checks.
