HYBRID FAMILY LAW ASSOCIATE ATTORNEY REQUIREMENTS:

  • You are actively licensed and in good standing with The Maryland State Bar Association.
  • A minimum of two years of experience litigating family law matters in Maryland is non-negotiable.
  • Your Zone of Genius is developing case strategy and advocating for your client's wishes in property division, alimony, custody, and child support, among other critical family law issues.
  • You review and draft pleadings, motions, trial exhibits, etc., with little supervision.
  • You can independently manage the lifecycle of a family law file.
  • Minimum billable hours = 1,400 per year.
  • A background in personal injury law is desirable but not required.
  • If you have yet to see the courtroom, please do not apply - you must have, at a minimum, 2nd chair family law/civil litigation trial experience in Maryland courts!
  • Experience working in a busy, client-centric law firm utilizing case management software.
  • Demonstrated ability to value client service and teamwork by managing positive and professional internal and external relationships.
  • You have strong interpersonal and presentation skills that lead with compassion and empathy.
  • You always act with solid ethical character and strive to identify with your clients to ensure they are treated fairly in the courtroom and that their case gets the best possible outcome.
  • You are a creative problem solver and solutions-based thinker.
  • You are tech-savvy and have experience with CRM software. We use CLIO Manage.

HYBRID FAMILY LAW ASSOCIATE ATTORNEY RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Keep client files properly organized and up to date.
  • Advocate on behalf of clients by understanding their needs, effectively analyzing the situation, and forming a strategy for a plan of action.
  • Represent clients in court proceedings as needed.
  • Manage the division of marital assets, including real estate, during divorce proceedings when needed.
  • Develop a strategic approach and provide leadership and direction to paralegals and legal assistants.
  • Manage full case-handling responsibilities from inception through resolution.
  • Conduct legal research and prepare memoranda on ongoing or potential cases.
  • Draft and review initial pleadings, motions, briefs, and other pleadings
  • Appear in Court as a professional to represent clients.
  • Prepare clients and cases for trial.
  • Advise staff on legal matters and interpret laws.
  • Interact with clients and work with experts.
  • Cultivate relationships with the firm's existing and future clients.
  • The ideal candidate must experience various sensitive legal issues, such as child abuse, child custody, and domestic violence.
  • Maintaining composure, negotiating, and arguing effectively, even in emotional and high-stress situations.
  • Manage full case-handling responsibilities from inception through resolution with little to no supervision.
