Essential Duties

The duties listed below are not all of the duties that may be assigned but are those that are considered as essential for an employee to perform.

  • Planning, organizing, managing, monitoring and evaluating all functions of the Child Protective Services program of the Children & Family Services Section of the DSS in order to meet statutory regulations, county/ state/federal policy, personnel policies and fiscal constraints.
  • Direct supervision of the CPS Coordinator, who in turn supervises nine social work supervisors. The Administrator provides guidance, support and accountability to the Coordinator who performs high- level decision- making and provide guidance, support and accountability to child protective service processes and SW Supervisors.
  • Management of personnel matters for fifty- five ( 55) full time staff members, including hiring, discipline, promotion, and training. Development, implementation and maintenance of all required processes in adherence to applicable personnel laws and county policies.
  • Preparation of budgetary requests for the Children Protective Services Section, including preparation and monitoring of contractual agreements, and provision of approval for monetary obligations.
  • In conjunction with the Foster Care Administrator, acts as a systemic intermediary for community partners and stakeholders that interact with, effect or are effected by Child Protective Service programs and functions, to include development of collaborative relationships and cooperative agreements.
  • Participation in appropriate and professional organizations such as Community Child Protection Team; Child Fatality Prevention Team; State Children' s Services Committee; Urban County Administrators group; etc. Attend local, area and state meetings, as required by programs, the director and other authorities.
  • Serve on the Social Services Management Team.

Minimum Qualifications

Master's degree in social work; bachelor's degree in SW or a related field and a minimum of 5 years in the provision and administration of Children & Family Services. Prefer ten years of progressively responsible management experience in Child Welfare programs; or an equivalent combination of education and experience. Valid driver's license. Must include a copy of transcripts with applications. The applicant selected must undergo and pass a drug screening test prior to employment.

Special knowledge, abilities, skills, physical requirements, and other factors: Exposure to multiple areas of child welfare - intake, assessments, investigations, in- home, foster care and adoptions, and other support programs. Must be

proficient in Microsoft Word, Excel and PowerPoint.

Pay: $74,098.00 - $118,557.00 per year
