Job description

This position will report directly to the Deputy Warden at a multi-custody female correctional facility and will be responsible for ACA accreditation and PREA audits at this facility. This position will report indirectly to the Division Audit Administrator. Responsibilities for this position include, but are not limited to, the following:

Providing hands on guidance and assistance to the section heads within their assigned facility (or facilities) regarding ACA and PREA audits.

  • Providing technical guidance to the Warden(s).
  • Coordinating internal compliance audits, safety and health audits and inspections and region inspections as well as ensuring all standard operating procedures and post orders are in compliance with audit standards and division policy.
  • Serving as the coordinator for monitoring the strategic plan, the key performance indicators and as the Facility Public information Officer.
  • Working collaboratively with other Prison section heads, the Warden, the Region Director, the Region Compliance Manager, the Division Audit Administrator, Director of Performance and Standards and other Division Directors to develop strategies for enhancing prison operations, using the results of operational audits, and other measures developed by this section.

This is a full-time position (40 hours per week) with State Benefits with established working hours of Monday-Friday, 8am-5pm and may require working beyond normal work schedule to meet business need.

Note to Current State Employees:
The salary grade for this position is NC12 (Salary Range: $43,500 - $76,125). State employees are encouraged to apply for positions of interest even if the salary grade is the same as, or lower than, their current position. If selected for this position, a new salary will be recalculated taking into consideration the quantity of relevant education and experience, funding availability, and internal equity. Based upon these factors, a pay increase MAY result.

About North Carolina Correctional Institution for Women (NCCIW):
North Carolina Correctional Institution for Women (NCCIW), in Raleigh, is the state's primary correctional facility for women. It houses the largest offender population in the state and serves as the support facility for the state's other female prisons. The campus-style facility sits on 30 acres of a 190-acre tract of state land in southeast Raleigh. NCCIW houses offenders of all custody levels and control statuses, including death row, maximum, close, medium, minimum, safe-keepers and youth. It provides the primary medical, mental, and alcohol and chemical dependency treatment for female offenders.

The facility operates a diagnostic center that serves as the point of entry into the prison system for women. Upon arrival, offenders undergo a series of diagnostic evaluations that will determine future prison assignments.

Minimum Education and Experience Requirements

Bachelor's degree from an appropriately accredited institution and two (2) years of experience related to the area of assignment; or an equivalent combination of training and experience.

Pay: $43,500.00 - $76,125.00 per year
